judging by today's blockbusters, yea, the "margin for error" was bigger, taking little more chances for more "natural" scripts was reasonable. so mix that with a young hot Spielberg brought us better movies. not sure the same Spielberg with these scripts today could have made the same movies.

i also think his 1st half of work was more fresh, original, edgy, etc. imho- he got old, he has changed, scripts and industry are more money driven..

nice work for a first short. post production and sound indeed seem invested. since you only wanted to try doing a short horror scene, it's done nicely. however, the downside for me is that i'm not too interested in the character, and i only tried focusing on the production quality.
