I would say the whole "only done with curves" thing is BS. Seems to me like there are LUTs involved.

What's your budget and what kind of lights you have access to?

The thing is that the tracks are not ''a little bit smoother'' . With wheelchair dolly you still get handheld feel to it while with the tracks the feel for a camera operator doing something is completely gone. They are completely different tools.

Why don't you tell him to pray for your footage to look better lol. Reduce the contrast. Make it more saturated. It'll look way better.

I actually don't think it looks poorly lit. I like the look and it does look a bit grainy but it gives it more or less filmic look so..depends on the look you're going for I guess. Take a shot every time I said look.
