Will there be trouble if a short film displays a company's logo?

Opps lol... I did a search in the UK database, and it came up with 36 results... I went through the trouble of looking at all dead trademarks, and none of them made products similar to clocks. If that is a UK company, the trademark is still Active and can be enforced. ----- Here is your UK...

Will there be trouble if a short film displays a company's logo?

http://tmsearch.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4808:99h468.2.31 That is the only registered trademark of "Minster", so the company logo you're looking at is NOT even trademarked. Also... the law does not forbid showing it anyways... If you're paranoid... motion track the clock and mask it...

Magic Lantern - how much storage for higher bitrates?

Sigh... not sure why I'm replying with researched responses... you'll most likely argue it anyways according to your tone... but here goes... I have the most high end consumer graphics card currently available. At 2K resolutions or higher the only option is to use 60Hz. Which most people who...

    Spec Scripts

You weren't questioning though... You asked how I defined Spec Script and then you told me I'm wrong. It's like someone puts a gun to your head and asks if you want to live. No matter your answer, you die. I gave you my opinion and then you tried to change it. No matter the advise given...

    Spec Scripts

But as I said, that Clockwork Orange one is a fake, written as a spec script. I'm sure Kubrick's script was a shooting script to begin with. However, if the film were to have a spec script, that surely would be what it would look like. ------------- I'm honestly past debating this at this...

    Spec Scripts

Okay... so directorik, what do you call a script that isn't a shooting script? What format would you say they are? ---- They don't call it a format in that interview because they aren't asked what format should someone write an episode to an already existing show if they wanted to get a job...

Magic Lantern - how much storage for higher bitrates?

24fps isn't for video... it's for film that are projected in theatres worldwide. 29.97 (30 drop frame) is the NTSC for video, and 60 is divisible by 30.

It is just sounding like you're lazy at this point. You can't be troubled to click on different scripts? A hundred spec scripts aren't enough for you? You need a thousand spec scripts?

Magic Lantern - how much storage for higher bitrates?

While that may be true for television... graphics cards are international and run on a 60hz refresh rate... 60 is not divisible by 25 and you will get frame loss when playing back on a computer monitor both in Europe and America.

    Greetings from NOLA!!

Welcome to IT. NOLA? As in New Orleans? Well you're in a good place to get experience. I used to work out there before I went to film school. ^_^ Hit up some of the smaller studios around there and see if they are looking for interns. You'll get tons of experience with them.

Will there be trouble if a short film displays a company's logo?

That quote you just gave is NOT the law though. Misinformation is the reason he asked this question about a clock that most likely it's logo isn't even readable in his film. He's paranoid like so many others because people have given them the wrong information and they can't afford a lawyer to...

    Spec Scripts

Hmmm... well every film that's ever been made most likely has a spec script that was used before it was made? So "A Clockwork Orange" would have one. Of course this isn't it because it includes the Dancing in the Rain lines, which wasn't in the actual script at any point. However it is still a...

Will there be trouble if a short film displays a company's logo?

I don't know... I still wouldn't try that. Especially if you say out right in the film that someone is obese because they drink Pepsi... You'd have to word it as the person's individual fault. Pepsi doesn't make you obese, drinking too much Pepsi makes you obese. :3 That's the approached...

Will there be trouble if a short film displays a company's logo?

I'm using the terms copyright and trademark interchangeably pretty much, I'm not a lawyer, don't repeat my advise as a defense case :) Also... "stir up the pot" isn't that the same as me saying they'd have to represent the brand negatively? TV and Movies don't cover up logos because it's the...

Will there be trouble if a short film displays a company's logo?

Showing logos and brands isn't actually against copyright. It's only once you represent their image in a negative manner that they can sue you. However, you should note that a lot of things can contribute to a "negative" manner and anything they can try to justify in a court. You're from the...

Question about starting out as a colorist

Hmm... I don't really have any advise I can give on that. I had a mentor who I worked for as junior colorist, but he was also an instructor who noticed in my first editing class that I did coloring (apparently pretty uncommon at my school). That's the kind of question I'd ask on the site I...
