    Faking Hits and Impacts

You could have the actor wired from behind and give him a timely yank when he's supposed to be hit. Try not to yank too hard, lest you hurt the poor guy. A strap around the chest under the clothes, a wire out the back. A mat on the floor to land on, etc.

Scene Shot Breakdown - Self Education

"What can I do to keep a fine story from looking like baboon's a$$?" Read this thread (all 4,000 posts): Ask David Mullen ANYTHING You want to control the light and particularly the contrast ratios on digital sensors. This takes big lights and big bucks sometimes. Other times it takes...

I think this is the correct Die Hard one. I can't watch Vimeo anymore on this computer for some reason that only Bill Gates knows. http://www.vimeo.com/2105215

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Limitless 8/10 I had a couple problems when I read the script, before the thing had even filmed. Yeah, the ending is sort of anti-climactic. The Russian gangsters are sort of stock. My big problem is that the smartest guy in the world does really, really stupid things. Like not paying off...

Best Short Films ... EVER [only]

Thread is for links to what you consider the best short films. Include a blurb about the film. Don't clog up thread with extraneous babble and arguments. #1: The Butterfly Circus They are apparently making the feature length version. #2: LOGORAMA Won Academy Award a couple years ago, best...

    My Atlantis epic tragedy

Yeah what he said is true. If you have a great story (big IF -- I haven't read it) then it could work as a young fantasy novel. Then you would have an "existing property." It's all a tough sell.

Scene Shot Breakdown - Self Education

Sorry, I thought Unstoppable blew monkey chunks. I did see a student film that recreated the rooftop shootout scene from Die Hard. That was pretty good, probably online.

    watch Dark Revelation (Short Film)

For a 24 hour project -- it's very good. That said, I have no idea what the allure is of making films on such short deadlines. In the final viewing, no one cares how fast you did it, only if it's good. The cinematography was a bit dark on the interiors. I would recommend more fill light in...

Short Short Film Screenplay for Application

If you really want this, then think about dividing your story into three distinct sections (acts). Act 1 45 sec. Act 2 1:30 Act 3 45 sec. At the end of the first 45 seconds, you spin the story into the next act with a twist. The first act introduces the story and characters. The second...

    Globster- First Few Scenes

I think Ross and Rachel killed the "take a break" line 15 years ago. There has to be a better way of phrasing this scene. It also sounds like she didn't mean break at all, but just wants to dump his sorry ass. Then the second conversation about seagulls is also something I've seen before...

    interior bathroom challenge

Was that interlaced footage? The bathroom could be a problem. Is there a mirror light above the sink? Maybe try and light it from that one point? Or mount a spotlight just above there with a narrow beam to keep the light off the walls. I'm assuming the character will go near the mirror/sink...

    DIY RAMPAGE CONTINUES... (REFLECTOR)

This sucker stands 9 feet tall. A little PVC, two 2' x 4' quarter inch plywood sheets, some 2x4" ends, some bolts (3/8" for the plywood sections) and wingnuts, rubber washer in-between... The reflective stuff is Reflectix, found in the insulation aisle. Also, there's a mirror mounted on the...
