    3-Axis Gimbal Options and Thoughts

Hi everyone, I took the time and compiled together a full page of references for you to read on if you are interested in assembling your own 3-Axis Brushless Gimbal, I decided to go with Came-7000 from Came-tv.com because their product is sturdy, their customer service is good, and I got the kit...

    5D Mark3

I have use several DSLR cameras, and I currently enjoy using the 5D3 and the 70D. Both will require an external audio recorder which I use the Tascam DR-60D. For lens, it's all depends, you should consider a prime lens, maybe a kit lens for in case you want to do steadycam work, and a wide...

Can you recommend a DSLR for under £1000/$1500

Hmm he also posted $1500 so that's what I aimed for. The 70d with 18-55mm stm lens is about $1350. I would suggest looking on this technology so your camera life spam may last a bit more than a used or older model even though the price is cheaper. Not to mention, the af on video mode of the...

Converting from an .MXF File to Something Usable on a Mac.

Adobe cs5.5 and up can open mfx files on Mac. Or go download the p2 reader then you can drag mfx files into Fcp and edit, been doing this for a few years now. Still got my hvx200 ;)

Can you recommend a DSLR for under £1000/$1500

If you plan to get the Canon, go for the Canon 70D with the kit lens and you should be able to start shooting films with it and have this incredible AF during video, which is suprisingly good. Many blogs and review sites consider the 70D not only a an upgrade to the 60D and it feels to be much...

    Zoom H6

Lol to me I can hear the difference using the same mics and setting during testing for indie perspective. And I kept both as I use both for different environmnt and different application. I would not use the Zoom H6 outdoor cause you barely can see the screen. I had communication with Zoom when...

    Zoom H6

All, yesterday we did a test with an audio engineer Jordan and here is what we found. Tascam DR-60D preamp noise is 30 db less than Zoom H6. Really low overall. Zoom H6 preamp is still better than the Zoom H4n. Video will be out this Thursday.

Tripod with Pan & Tilt Head or a Shoulder Rig?

If you are looking for a $200 ranged tripod, this video may help. I got a second tripod because of this, I like the sturdiness of it. But it's not quck release form factor... But for $150 it was really sturdy. I plan to use that for dlr while the manfrotto for heavier camcorders. I got the Davis...

    Zoom H6

Hey guy, long time :) So I have the new Tascam DR-60D and the Zoom H6, we have done a few tests, here what I've posted at another forum: 'm not a sound guy, just an indie filmmaker, so my test may not be right... However, as pointed out to me at another forum, I've done the same test twice and...

    Know Your Movie

Sean is, I believed, currently moved back to LA, he was also a producer for Peter John Ross' Horror of War and also a good friend, when he first moved to Cleveland, we hang out and was thinking of collaborating a bit, Sean almost helped produce The Rapture as well, sadly, our timing were off, he...

help needed setting up a film night.

That's a great idea too, and actually I DO wish film festivals would announce their listing way before 1 month so it gives filmmaker enough time to go and get publicity materials (postcards, fliers) readied and get them to all over the place. Since you are doing it at a friend's bar, probably...

help needed setting up a film night.

In addition: Get some writings clearly stated that the filmmakers need to help promote the film night, and that the films have no copyrighted material in it, that all are the filmmaker's ownership (I've participated at film nights here in town where some video had music from signed bands that...

Internet Marketing for my Indie Film

So, to respond to your question of how many people one had 'followed' other filmmakers? I'll be the first to respond. To name a few: some IndieTalk members, and other forum members, Mike Conway, Peter John Ross, Christian Viel, late Neil Frederick, Steven Lebed, Al Leong, John Sheetz, Ray...

Internet Marketing for my Indie Film

Mike, this is just my opinion, the 2 videos you have are good for BTS footages for dvd package (like featurrette), for internet viewers, you want something fast, quick and short. In a sense, most people watching the Internet video want something that can either be very stupid, or silly or very...

How do you prepare a movie for screening at a festival

before you do anything, go to the film festival's site and check on their screening and viewing formats, because of the technology, right now, DVD has become a fairly standard format for viewing/submission and for screening (almost 70% of the festivals will take it), however, many bigger ones...

    How small production companies survive

How small business co. survive... Well, I've been in business since 1998, first, started as a part time business and working part time so, the work I do pays the rent, and the money receive from my prod. co. is to upgrade myself. Back then, I only do referrals, I do not advertisement, back...

    cinema history?

hey Spinner, I was meaning the x-men as a whole in movie wise, not as the insight if they have power or not, but in Asia, they would see it as t"hese is a western movies that trying to make themselves look more they are superior than anyone else", they wouldn't care about the plot or whatnot...

    cinema history?

Spinner, you are right, for a person to be able to understand the other side of the culture, the viewer should at least understand the cultural background... One thing that many Asian films failed miserably here in the US or any other western countries, is due to the subtle and the lack of...
