    Unreliable cast!!

This is not a problem just in the film industry. My wife is in retail and they cannot keep good help. People come in and say they want a job and when hired they are always calling out or making excuses why they can't get to work on time. It is a sad sign of the times. I saw the same thing when I...

    Lone Ranger thread.

My son and I saw it yesterday. IMHO Depp stole the show with Hammer playing his straight man for the most part. The special effects were pretty good but somewhat unbelievable especially the train scenes toward the end. I did like that they used the old link and pin couplers on the RR cars which...

    David Lynch on Product Placement.

If product placement helps get the film financed I don't see the issue. The indie film producer that I provided a military vehicle for got several thousand dollars to feature Jack Daniels in his movie. He was also the first film company allowed to shoot at their location in Lynchburg, TN.

How do you shoot in Vancouver when...?

Since I have never been to Canada, other than crossing into it for a short "I was here" photo, I can't comment on what you have available for location shoots as far as office/police station/ business type sets. Down here we have been building new schools at a prodigious rate. This leaves a lot...

tv LA continues to lose TV production.

Unless you are independently wealthy, have a high paying job waiting or have a skill that is in huge demand you might want to rethink that strategy. Working people and businesses are leaving CA for a reason. That reason is economics for the most part. There is also the high crime rate in some...

    Making a zombie movie!

Where will you be filming? If you need military vehicles let me know. The military vehicle forum I'm on has a lot of members up that way. I have a 600 acre site here in Alabama that would be ideal for that kind of movie (abandoned steel mill that still has buildings standing).

    Anyone have a "Dream Project"?

If I had the budget I would like to option Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series. They have been kicking the idea of making a mini-series out of it but it has gone nowhere. In my opinion it would be best put on the screen as a weekly series like "The Walking Dead". In my version I would use...

    Anyone have a "Dream Project"?

Wouldn't that fall under the "Outdoor Cooking" genre?

How Would I go About Getting This?

This is what makes things difficult for the people that come after you. If the owners find out you lied you may not be prosecuted but the owners may never let anyone film there again or if they do they will charge a high fee. Do you really want to make films under false pretense?

tv LA continues to lose TV production.

Or they could cut government spending to the bone, quit paying elected officials and government employees way too much money and lower taxes to keep business and industry there. Quit paying people not to work and cut welfare to the illegals and people that are too lazy to work for a living...

tv LA continues to lose TV production.

This is not meant to be a California bashing but CA has become a victim of it's own left leaning government. All types of business and industry are leaving the state in droves because of the high cost of doing business out there. Many states are creating tax incentives and other programs to lure...

    A Lotta Bit O' Action

I like the scene in "Pale Rider" where the Preacher (Clint Eastwood) whips the local bad guys with a pick handle. "There's nothing like a good piece of Hickory."

How do I ensure payment for services rendered.

Thank you......I'll be doing a formal announcement as soon as I have everything set up. I spoke to a lawyer that helped me sell some property recently and he is now on board as my contract guy.

How do I ensure payment for services rendered.

My services will consist mostly of locating filming sites, arranging logistics and contract labor (set building, lighting, sound, etc.) Since all things are negotiable I guess I can put how I want to be paid in the contract. Thanks for the insight.

How do I ensure payment for services rendered.

When working with a major production company or even indie film producers how do you make sure you get paid for services rendered or location rental? Do you require a letter of credit (for major producers) or maybe a credit card on file for smaller accounts? Do you get paid when services are...

    Under The Dome

I'm a big Stephen King fan but am usually disappointed by the movies that come out of the books. They butchered The Stand and several others but I understand that a lot of sub-plots and back stories can't make it into the movie adaptations. Sometime this leaves a lot of questions if the viewer...

    Calling All Tri-State IndieTalkers

When I was in college we had an extensive library of sound effects on CD's. I used vehicle sound effects on two of my projects. I can't remember the name of the library but you should be able to find something on line now.

    Some people are beyond help

When I read that on Yahoo I wondered "What Public Relations genius thought that was a good idea?" Ron White is correct.

What's your biggest film making achievement/success?

I have been an extra in two indie films. In the first my son and I drove one of my military trucks through the (prop) door of a "drug warehouse" as part of a police raid, in the second I just had a small walk on part in a crowd scene. Since I'm retired military and own military vehicles I have...
