    box office chart

My film's theme is sport and culture so I tried to compile a list that has a bit of that. I used films like Bend it like Beckam, lost in translation, whale ryder etc.

To impress potential financiers, how long does the chart have to be. I've already compiled a list of twenty budget and box office gross. Do I need more?

    New to filmmaking--equipment question

I do agree with Exporart but since part of the business plan includes a top sheet (budget) and in most cases, financiers ask for breakdowns, shouldn't a filmmaker know about the equipment? I think knowing your camera and editing equipement is a plus especially if you're going to be interviewing...

    comments on my budget

Thanks guys: Zen - I'm still working on my prospectus but since the budget is the top sheet, I want to make sure that I have enough items. Good point on purchasing three cameras. I'll take a note on that. I'm still working on the budget breakdowns but it's a bit difficult for me since I'm in...

    DOING IT

Thanks Zen. I thought it would be better to shoot in SA since my film deals with the local culture. I probably have to start entertaining the idea of doing the project locally. I'll have to try to find locations that look like SA neighborhoods. BTW what is PAL - I system and IDL? thanks much

    DOING IT

It looks like I'll be able to raise at least $15,000 by fall for my project. I intend to film it in South Africa which will convert to around 100,000 rands (1 to 7). The shooting script is around 85 pages. I've been adviced by the people in the know that it's better to use two cameras...

    lets define a producer's role

Ok then. Lets talk about the indie producer. You're excited cause you just finished your script. The next move is to start the prepro. You discover that the prepro is mainly business, not creative. You get discouraged. How does one get motivated? In my case, the next step was to get a...
