archived-videos Terra Australis - New timelapse film

Since you mention it, I will ask a little about your post work. When you're working on a sequence, in Lightroom, do you adjust 1 photo, get it where you want, and then apply settings to the rest of the images in that sequence?

Thanks for the reply. My apologies for the assumption. Some of those nature scenes looked incredible. I thought for sure they had to have been HDR. Again sorry for assuming. Still an awesome video.

Very cool, thanks for sharing. Can I ask what program you're using for modeling? I'm teaching myself Blender at the moment, since I can't afford any of the other programs. Thanks, Jeff

archived-videos Terra Australis - New timelapse film

Hey phil, finally having a chance to watch this again, on my desktop (as opposed to the iPad). I was wondering if you'd comment on some of the HDR sequences? Were they all standard 3 shot HDR? Tackling HDR time-lapse is definitely a goal of mine. Thanks

Very nice Phill. Can I ask what kind of slider you are using? Is it motorized? Are all the shots with movement done on a slider, or did you create and the the movement in post? Looks great!

    editing CLONING FIGHT SCENE

Ok, after reading the original question once again. There are 5 female fighters, and 20-30 henchmen. So with that many henchmen, you won't be having 1 on 1 fighting. It will be 1 against multiple fighters. I doubt the henchmen will stand in line and wait to be dispatched. I would attempt to...

    editing CLONING FIGHT SCENE

Wide shots, you use a locked down tripod. You can do multiple takes, and layer together to create the illusion of many henchmen. When you do close ups, you won't see as many, so you can do close ups of a pair fighting, and put another pair or two in the background, to create the illusion of...

    Yet another camera advice question...

Look at the Sony NEX FS100. I love mine, although I didn't get the kit lens. But they've cut the price lately, and you can get the 18-200 lens. It's an awesome camera. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/761580-REG/Sony_NEX_FS100UK_NEX_FS100U_Super_35mm_Sensor.html

    editing CLONING FIGHT SCENE

I was trying to find a video copilot tutorial they did, using two guys, and made it look like a whole swat team. I can't seem to find it. But you do some lock down shots, you could do this with just a few actors, and as long as you keep track of their placements, you could composit multiple...

Guerrilla - if Aronofsky can do it...

In Stu Maschwitz's book, The DV Rebel's Guide: An All-Digital Approach to Making Killer Action Movies on the Cheap, he talks about how expensive it was to get permits in San Fransisco. So they had a friend with a pickup truck, put the tripod in the back and filmed guerrilla style. As long as the...

editing Creating a good listening environment?

This I didn't know, thank you for making that clear. Also that solves one situation for me. Stereo monitoring it will be. Yeah, I'm not looking for major sound studio quality room. Want to create a better environment then 4 walls, a floor and a ceiling. This thing of ours (just wanted to throw...

Thanks Alcove. Definitely a lot to take into consideration.

editing Creating a good listening environment?

With regards to acoustic ceiling tiles. Would I want to keep the ceiling parallel to the floor? Or hang a drop ceiling at an angle to the floor? I was just searching out "Auralex" and came across their acoustics101.com site. I will be giving that a thorough reading.

Need help narrowing down my list of Pro Camcorders

Again, I can't discount that canon. I'd love to have a couple of them, for documentary and reality type applications. With film making, your going to learn a lot about lighting. When I first got back into this hobby (about 3 years ago) I was looking into a Sony EX1 (think that's what it was)...

Need help narrowing down my list of Pro Camcorders

That canon is a great camera. 4:2:2 color sampling at 50mb/s 24p and 30p recording. Understand you aren't interested in a DSLR. But I will say, one of the things a lot of independent film makers are interested in, is achieving that shallow depth of field. If you don't know what that is, that's...

editing Creating a good listening environment?

There's been a little talk lately about sound, and I wanted to ask the resident sound guys (or anyone else who can help with this question). Hopefully next year ill be buying a new house, and will be turning a room into a dedicated studio. I don't necessarily mean studio, like production...

    criticise my movie production intro

I'm just going to give you my opinion, as I'm not qualified to give a number rating. I like the idea of it. But I think it ends too abruptly. Also I don't like that the birds on the sides don't fit fully in frame. My 2 cents

film-school Name some successful directors that didn't go to film school

I may be wrong, but I remember hearing Ben Stiller on Howard's Stern's radio show, and he talked about having never gone to film school. I haven't checked online to see who's correct, but that's what I remember.

    Audio Curriculum Discussion...

Alcove, I will go on the record and say I'm in 100% agreement with the statement of finding someone else to do the sound. Whether its an up and coming person, who's skill level match that of another up and comer, or a seasoned professional. My passion for knowledge still wants to fed, and...

    Audio Curriculum Discussion...

As always, thank you Alcove, and A.P.E. for all the time and passion you take to help everyone out. And yes, this isn't a thread for one single person to learn. I hope there are many more people, like myself, who want to know about the audio side of things. I can imagine a lot of us come from...
