    How would you . . . ?

If you add that much weight to the head, I think you run the risk of the foam neck tearing from the weight of the steel and foam skull. Also, the head will need support, or it probably won't do anything except fall to one side, front, or back. gelder

    editing Another FCP Export Question...

Sorry, I got pulled away - my gf's in another country, and she Skyped me for the first time in days. Internet access is spotty where she is. Are you on a Mac? here's something on QT and codecs for Macs, with links to some extra codec info. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3523 Since it sounds...

    editing Another FCP Export Question...

I recommend for basic exporting using Movie to Quicktime, H.264 codec, with audio set to AAC. gelder

    editing Another FCP Export Question...

It's probably in your export settings, if it looks fine in Final Cut. How did you import? Mini-DV tape through a camera or deck, imported at full resolution? Are you using Compressor, or just QuickTime settings? What codec are you using to export? And check your settings for "anamorphic"...

How To Pass A Voice Over Audition

In the amount of time it took you to come to this forum and complain about the actress who wanted to send you a headshot, you could have responded to her, written her a quick note to let her know she needed a different sample for the audition. You want an educated actress, but you don't share...

    editing Final Cut/QuickTime proportion question

Thanks, Deus - There were actually a few settings I needed to adjust, but starting with a new sequence was definitely a good start. Got it worked out, I think - exporting what seem to be the properly-sized files now. Appreciate the assistance! gelder

    editing Final Cut/QuickTime proportion question

If I've got this right, the screenshot going in, the second is the output from Final Cut. and, CF, I was checking out the square pixel thing - haven't found the right combination to make it fly, yet. Thanks for the suggestions and any forthcoming help! gelder

    editing Final Cut/QuickTime proportion question

So, I'm working on what should be a quick project, and running into an odd problem. I have a QT file with no audio that I need to add background music to. The QT file appears to be 4:3, but when I bring it into Final Cut, it comes up in the viewer letterboxed. Proportions seem to be correct...

archived-videos The First Laugh - A Documentary About Amateur Stand-Up Comedians

Hey, themattcastro! (may I call you "thematt"...?) Seems like a fine idea for a documentary, not stupid or amateurish. But, as a former stand up comic, I do know the topic has been covered a bunch, so I hope you have maybe one or two particular standouts that you've discovered while filming...

Lesser Know Movies that are Great

Absolutely agree on Shadow Of The Vampire. "Three O'Clock High" with Casey Siemaszko - very stylized, very funny, very above-average high school comedy. "Overnight" - I recommend this to all filmmakers, screenwriters, etc. as a reminder to stay humble if things get good all of a sudden. gelder

    Where to get non-disclosure agreements.

As someone who has auditioned constantly over the last couple of years, I have never had a request to sign an NDA. It would seem unusual for me to go into an audition and be asked to sign one, but I would, because you have to audition to have a chance at the role. However, some actors, and...

    archived-videos "Battle: LA" review

Thought it was so-so. A little above-average, for the alien-invasion-earthlings-fighting-back-genre, but pretty cookie-cutter. Could've predicted survivors and casualties from the platoon with a better than 90% accuracy as soon as they appeared on screen. But, insanely awkward and corny...

The MPAA is so $#%ing stupid!

Side note: the MPAA got a new chairman today: http://www.azcentral.com/thingstodo/movies/articles/2011/03/01/20110301chris-dodd-mpaa-chief.html Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss. gelder

The MPAA is so $#%ing stupid!

I agree with most of what you're saying about the MPAA and teens, money, etc. Just had to say - I think this comparison is pretty apples/oranges. The overall audience for Little Fockers and Black Swan are going to be markedly different, and Black Swan's probably smaller, for a plethora of...

    We must pay the rent.

I didn't know the skit, Jeff, so the graphic was lost on me, but after watching it, I think I'd suggest a couple of moves, if you ever do incorporate the design. I think I'd re-order the characters, so that, from left to right, you had "landlord, girl, hero" - the order they appear in. And...

    Uhhhhh... hehehehe...

I have listed a scorpion and a couch from two of my short films on imdb. Escobar T. Couchie: http://imdb.com/name/nm1738072/ Monty B. Scorpion: http://imdb.com/name/nm2304485/ Monty got an extra credit when I slipped him in as one of the scorpions on WildBoyz. I had him as a guest scorpion...

    TV Pilot Pitch

Most producers will want to see a "story bible" which is a breakdown of episode ideas for anywhere from 6 - 13 episodes, or more. They want to know that this idea has a future, as they will be selling the idea of a series to a network or channel that wants to see some longevity to it. A number...
