action Using "ing" words in action description

And where is "teh" appropriate in spec scripts? (I kid! I kid!)

    Talent, etc.

That's what I tend to believe - that it requires a certain amount of psychosis. I also think I agree about there not being innate talent.. sort of.. I was a nervous kid so I'd always tap on things.. school desks, my legs, my friends, etc. Eventually I took up drumming. So I've kind of got a...

    The Con - Ideas needed

Something involving taking over a television station and conning a small city en mass. Would have to revolve around motivating a large group of people to do something in one night/morning. Much longer would stretch the limits of plausibility...

I don't anymore and when I did it was never consistent. I don't have the heart or confidence for it.

    The Con - Ideas needed

You mean you're stuck trying to think up a clever con for them to pull?

editing What do you use to edit?

I edited an hour long documentary with Quicktime once. Not nearly as cumbersome as you'd think. :) I imagine it was a lot like cutting tape.

Well either way.. Either I'm not a salesperson or I'm not a composer. Either way it requires work to overcome and the question is really when do you stop working at it and start working at something more prudent. (Well, the question is how have YOU dealt with the question.. but I guess you...

    Wow! Unlimited Movies For $50/mo.

Yeah but.. with the exception of any given December - when was the last time five movies were released in a month that you actually wanted to see?

Michael - I'm guessing by the question that you take the view that it's a matter of persistence/work ethic - if you work hard enough you simply WILL succeed? A lot of people seem to think that.. and maybe it's right - as a matter of physics, obviously it's not. There are no guarantees, but...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Not sure that came across how I meant it - I meant George Lucas said that and I was totally looking forward to whatever he came up with - but all I've heard is that he's still mining StarWars. (disappointed)

That does sound simple. :P And EASY too!

Also - that music isn't bad at all, Nate. :) Probably wouldn't work for a sappy romance love scene - but for that video, it's exactly what it should be. (which is what makes it good, right?)

Hahaha.. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking to get something out of the thread - but I really wasn't trying to talk about me or ask for advise so much as incite a conversation.. I'll admit I'm having a bit of trouble articulating just what I'm talking about.. (an english teacher once...

Hmm.. I totally thought more people would have something to say about this. o.O Does that mean that most of you believe 100% in the value of work ethic/will? That persistence WILL pay off every time, no ifs ands or buts? JoshL - sounds like good advise to the me of ten years ago...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Aww.. Baz Luhrmann.. one of my two biggest disappointments of the last decade.. Luhrmann's Trilogy of "Epic"s, and George Lucas saying "I'm going to do more experimental things after Episode III, things like THX1138. I think I've earned the right to fail." :sigh/shake head: Oh, ahem. Sorry.

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

I've never heard pop music in a film that wasn't a musical work so well as in the watchmen. How was Sucker Punch? I was looking forward to it till the reviews started coming in.. that kind of put me off, but part of me wants to think "okay, these reviewers just weren't willing to "go with it".

    Talent, etc.

Hey, thanks for the taking a swing at this.. If "Sufficiently talented to make it" was an easy question to answer - that's all the resume an artist would need. I'm actually more interested in composing, personally - I guess "musician" implies performance.. I've been writing music for twelve...
