archived-videos Another Cell Phone Monologue - Please Critique/Bash/Compliment

Hey everyone, I'm back here with another short cell phone monologue that I put together with another friend from acting class. This story is actually tied in to the last one I posted up here. I'm hoping to get some thoughts, opinions, etc. This was filmed this past Friday evening at a hotel...

cinematography Top down shot spiralling upwards/outwards - Help

My first thought would be to turn this rig 90 degrees somehow. Whatever route you choose, good luck! Looking forward to seeing the final result. :)

    DEVO

Love Devo. What We Do is one of my favorite songs, not just by Devo, but by anybody. I also enjoy their rendition of Satisfaction. I will now have What We Do stuck in my head here at the office... and that's a good thing. :)

    Filming more often

I've wanted to jump on some of the Monday Challenges, but haven't yet, usually because of scheduling conflicts (I have a wife who demands I actually spend time with her doing things for some odd reason... lol) Here's the link to the latest Film Riot, so now you know where to find them on...

editing New VFX & Editing Software

I've been using Vegas HD Studio Platinum 11, and have loved it so far, but after reading a few posts on here and looking at the low price on Amazon (Kind of funny, it briefly dipped down to $99 when I bought it and it's back up to $134 now, lucky timing) So I went ahead and got the latest...

vivitar wide angle and telephoto lens

Hi, I have a generic wide and telephoto attachment that I use on the exact same camera. I used the wide attachment in the filming of this short. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDHQtpOu2bA I'm not sure how much the Vivitar is, but I bought a no-name brand from Amazon and it works pretty well.

What do you think about this article?

    Small detail I somehow overlooked.

Anybody want in on a project?

No band footage at all? I'm curious, I'd like to hear your music now.

I want to be a filmmaker... But I have no friends!

I guess that's kinda how it came out... sorta... just that there's no pressure, people will understand if a 17 year old has a lot to learn about this stuff. Thanks! For the record, I've since turned 37 since I started pursuing my dream... ugh. I wanted to get in to film when I was your age...

What do you think about this article?

Interesting read. It had some easy to understand (incredibly dumbed down) examples of structure, etc... but then it lost me at the last line. Nope, I don't give a crap about Hollywood, I just want to make good movies. So clearly this article wasn't aimed at readers like me.

I want to be a filmmaker... But I have no friends!

I have a similar problem with being somewhat introverted (at least initially). Also, none of my friends have any interest in doing this. My wife advised me to take an acting class and it was a great start, because it put me with a group of people that have as much experience...

    Production Diary: Music Video

That's almost identical to the jib I built this summer for the heck of it (and haven't used yet), so I'm glad you guys went to the trouble of figuring out how much weight I'd need. Thanks! ;) Lovin' the updates, can't wait to see the results!

    How do you credit yourself?

:lol::lol: But seriously though, I think it comes down to what YOU want in the credits. I choose to put Written/Directed/Produced etc. on my one man crew projects (all 2 I've done so far)... but if you're not comfortable with that "A film by" is quite alright too. Just do what feels...

archived-videos "Le Rire" Blackmagic Cinema Camera Short Film

It looked great! One thing I did notice was around 1:45 there was some stuff on the bench to his left, then when you cut to the wide shot the stuff was gone. Other than that I thought it was great.
