Exhumed - article in Fango and first screen grabs

Hey all. Been a little while... Anyhow, so...earlier this month we shot a feature in 11 days. One location, 5 actors...psychological thriller. I have to say, this is probably my most favorite thing I've worked on. We had such amazing fun, and the footage and performances were so damn good. Shot...

    Michael Caine on acting (link)

Ya. that The Trip video is hilarious. Perfect. I love the series, I recommend it. Michael Caine has great things to say about acting. You can get his book, or view his old-school video version online or getting it on DVD. 'Acting in Film' I think it's called. Solid stuff.

Check out the Trailer to this short film I helped to Co-Write, It's titled Loveheist

I would turn down the volume of the music a tad, and match it with the dialog. I would also not mention Inception...I mean if it's a direct rip-off, then I guess that's just giving a heads up...but if it's an original piece in a lot of ways, don't mention it. That chick looks like the girl from...

editing They should have a CGI program like this.

Ya, Turbo Squid (I even have some models up there from yeeeaaars ago...still get the random check in the mail and tax form). Great models there. You just need an animator.

    archived-videos Intense Shooting VFX Movie

I'll only comment on the vFX--really nice muzzle flashes. The blood, however, was too cloudy, too hazy. More thick splotches (subtle) and less cloud. Nice work thus far.

First time with the RED! NEED HELP!

    1. Keep the battery recharger well away from location...that fan is loud. 2. Media wrangling as mentioned before, make sure you have someone that can handle that and do some dumping and transferring. 3. The Red doesn't mean it will look great...don't skimp on lighting design (and sound)...

    outside in acting

Outside in can be a good way to get a character developed. Some people like to put on the pirates outfit and build the inner-story from there. At some point you have to pull it inside...and you should always listen and respond to the individual your acting opposite...but to start, sometimes...

    archived-videos As I Am < Short Film

As usual, another fantastic short. I'm always impressed with your work. Great photography, editing and music. Pulling a mile of production value from an inch of budget. Very well done. Some day I hope to collaborate with you. I look forward to your next piece.

    archived-videos New logo

That was fun. I like the lighting, however the texture (or lack thereof) might look good with an upgrade. I'm also not a huge fan of the text centering on the planet instead of the page. Maybe that's just me...but it looks odd. Kudos overall.

    archived-videos Short VFX Action Sequence

I have a friend that does these, he's really good (Leo Kei Angelos), and he's gotten the most attention from his last two pieces, which he smartly has catered to a mass audience by making the first one based on Dragon Age, and the second one he's done on a Silent Hill theme. Extremely high hit...

archived-videos "and then we were small" - trailer (2011)

Cool. Hmmm...the focus at the beginning is intentional? The cam op/DP meant to overshoot focus and then come back to it? Odd...why is that I wonder...I'm seriously curious, not trying to troll. I'm curious why DP's want their work to look messy and amateur nowa'days. Thanks.

    WORKING WITH SAG!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't go SAG unless you can 1. afford it, 2. are using SAG actors that have serious skill and/or some kind of name. You should be able to find non-union actors that give you just as much (or even more) than what a SAG actor can bring to the table. Why are YOU going SAG?

    archived-videos Borderline Web Series

The beginning is too long and drawn out...too much text. Then when we get into the images, they are also too static. Even though you had flickery layers going on...nothing is really happening. You need to find a way to draw your viewer in, and not let them lose interest. The voice is...

archived-videos "and then we were small" - trailer (2011)

I think that was a solid trailer on many levels. Fun, energetic, good song, solid photography...I just wish I saw a little more to bring me into that world. This may be me being a little too picky, but the very first shot of the trailer had some red flags for me...the focus was loose...in and...

    Firing An Actor

If you can't work with the actor, and you haven't shot too much footage of them, then get rid of them. One volatile actor on set can spoil a production...not to mention, there are a plethora of awesome actors out there who are a joy to work with.

archived-videos New 'Chronicles of Nerm' Trailer!

Truly incredible CGI. Really solid modeling, texturing, lighting, rigging, and animation. You have mad skills and deserve to work with Dreamworks, Weta, or Pixar. However, I'm not a fan of the trailer...I don't see a story. Just my two cents. What app did you use? Maya? Max? Softimage...

What was the last film you actually paid to see in theater and enjoyed?

Black Swan. Loved it...especially Portman's performance.

    archived-videos NOBLE - Short Film

I really liked this. The lighting was great, as was the camera operator's work in terms of movement. I think the story is a very cool one, although overdone, you can make an entertaining film or series with this plot device. I have a few criticisms I'd like to make. Firstly, the focus was WAY...

archived-videos Short Zombie Film - MORBID

I thought that was really well done. Some really nice sound design, solid cinematography and camera work, and the color grading was sitting at a nice spot. As others have said, I think this had a very lackluster story. It seems like with a little expanding, you could do a series from this, or...
