    editing Syncing Workflow

Wheat's method is not using the nested thing. He's editing with on the on-cam sound and using a trick at the end of the edit to add the synced audio. So he's using sequences but his final edit is a bunch of files, not sequences (unlike your technique). I'll try it next time. I don't see the...

    editing Syncing Workflow

Seriously, that seems messy ... You just throw everything you need into the sequence and rearrange by cutting it together ? That's not my approach. I use the "source monitor". And I can't think of a way of using it with synced files (not sequences).

    Star Trek Into Darkness

It was gratuitous but nobody cares.

    editing Syncing Workflow

The question is how to do that. So what happens here is that my final edit is a lot of sequences instead of videos and audio files, right ? That doesn't seem like the way to do it but it's still an improvement on my way. I've seen that way to do it with PuralEyes and tough it feels...

    editing Syncing Workflow

Okay, it's something that I never understood and that gives me serious itching when I read articles about. I know the real way to do it is to use Timecode. As Guerilla filmmakers we don't have that so moving on. The way I usually do it is to clap using hands or slate. Then I drag every...

    Star Trek Into Darkness

Just watched the movie. Is it me or the cinematography was "meh" sometimes ? The faces felt distorted on some shots. The constant rack focusing brought focus breathing issues (they could have picked another lens :/) and obviously, the overuse of lens flares... Apart from that, I frickin'...

Curious about prosumer camers vs. DSLR's

I'm also strongly biased towards DSLR (or mirrorless in the case of the GH2) They've proven their use for filmmakers and I've yet to see any footage from a "prosumer camcorder" that'll make me think otherwise.

The GH2, holy price jump batman!

Yup, it's no mystery. The camera is out of production and the hack made it a literal beast that can bear comparison to actual more expensive stuff.

    H.264 vs RAW - Canon 600D / T3i

Has there been any test to prove that ProRes capturing gets you a better image than h264 ? Not true on Premiere (or maybe by a small margin).

wide angle + low light lens for video

So you want a very fast, ultra wide, inexpensive lens. You're going to need to drop one of those. Ultra-wide and inexpensive : Tokina 116, Canon 10-22, Samyang 14. Ultra-wide and faster than 2.8 : I've never heard of such a lens.

    H.264 vs RAW - Canon 600D / T3i

I don't see how ProRes would be huge since you can convert your H264 to ProRes (although I don't see what you would, ProRes is overrated). RAW on the other hand, you can't convert to that. The question is why is there more Dynamic Range in RAW ? And why can't you shoot 1080 with RAW ?

    f/0.95 lenses on cameras

Except that for the price of the 1.2 he can get the 0.95 + a camera + some lighting.

My DIY Wii Wheel Steady cam.

How this thing can be called "steadicam" is beyond me. It's a DIY "fig rig" at best.

    f/0.95 lenses on cameras

Do you know of a side by side comparison of 0.95 and 1.4. I've never used 1.4 and if you really can get nearly the same amount of light.... (but even 1.4 isn't very popular and quite expensive on Canon.

    archived-videos Wedding Highlights - Critic !

Don't knwo, it's probably the electricity. But I remember trying different shutter speed on location and it just made it worse. The least flickering is the one you're seeing now. Anyway, I guess the client didn't care : "Your video is PERFECT!!! We completely LOVE it! Looking forward to the...

    f/0.95 lenses on cameras

This is all false. You make it sound like "wide aperture = shallow DOF instantly" which is not true. You can still get deep focus if you step back and focus farther.

    f/0.95 lenses on cameras

Wheat cheap camera can achieve clean high ISO ? I never go higher than 1250. With f/0.95 you can probably shoot by candlelight at 320 ISO.

    f/0.95 lenses on cameras

We can shoot by candlight with slower lenses ? I know that 1.8 is nowhere near enough.

How does this guy's camera get so bright at night?

I'm pretty sure this photo is a long exposure one and has nothing to do with video.
