    Historical Accuracy

I just spent an hour fixing a couple of scenes so they are accurate with pearl harbor. I'd say it's not a necessity with a draft. But if it's your third of fourth re-write I would definitely consider it. But look at how many flaws Armageddon's accuracy had, and how much it made....

    my first 'real' short film

you have to either, A.)Get a mic and boom or B.)Shoot it silent like i'm shooting my own film. Sound is crucial. You can't edit bad sound into great sound....

    Screenwriting Degree?

kgasser, directorik is right. school is a great thing, but you have to figure out what path you need to carve to the road of success. I get off on creating, and couldn't imagine myself taking a couple more years of courses I didn't want to take. Sure, I could, but what's the point? If I get a...

    Truestar's Screenwriting Challenge

I'm aware VPTurner. I realize everyone expects it to suck horribly. But I have to start somewhere, and I believe in what i'm writing.

    Truestar's Screenwriting Challenge

Did I say I was going to sell it? It's called an experiment.... I know screenplays polfilmblog, I just haven't wrote one yet. Should I take five months to write one? How about a year? Or five weeks? Or I could write one in a week. start the second draft 2 weeks later, and continue revising...

    Truestar's Screenwriting Challenge

Hey guys, I'm just finally finishing up the scenes right now. I've finished all of the character development in three hours. I was contemplating whether or not to include voiceovers in the screenplay, since the main character doesn't have any friends (with the exception of 58 cats) and i'm...

    Truestar's Screenwriting Challenge

one more thing. don't be alarmed if the dialogue isn't razor sharp. i'm not trying to write a witty, dramatic screenplay. I'm going for an off-the-wall comedy that's "so bad it's good". expect the scenes to be awesome, but expect something like "troll 2", or "showgirls".

    Truestar's Screenwriting Challenge

I feel you murdock. This is why i'm trying something new. I usually write 25-50 page character analysis'. I've read steven king would even write his first drafts with very little character development, and then add them in in the later drafts. I begin now. wish me luck.

    Truestar's Screenwriting Challenge

I'm not sure if you're aware, but i'm attending my own film school and i'm the only student. If I was trying to sell the screenplay, then I might approach it differently..... But i'll likely film this myself someday. Paul Schrader wrote "Taxi Driver" in five days. Werner Herzog wrote "Aguirre...

Noob Indie Filmmaker making some life-critical decisions now

That's a great idea. I care more about realism though. I think it all of their stories wouldn't be that interesting bunched up together. I'd rather find one girl with a phenomenal story. Much like "Nights of Cabria", or "Bella De Jour". And I'm not leaning towards the military so much now.

Noob Indie Filmmaker making some life-critical decisions now

I learn by "doing". I've always been this way. It's probably why I've never been a great student. I also have a photographic memory..... My problem is probably that i'm too hard on myself. I always strive for perfection. But i'll be fine even if "Madness" bombs, since it's only my first film...

Noob Indie Filmmaker making some life-critical decisions now

I talked to my neo-realist actors (friends) and saturday will be the shoot. I decided to shoot guerilla style to save some cash since it's too pricey for me. This means I'll only use 5-7 takes for each scene.

Noob Indie Filmmaker making some life-critical decisions now

directorik, I finally now get all of your advice. I was reading Robert Rodriguez's "Rebel Without A Crew" when I realized that now is the time for me to make movies. Enough of the reading a different book every few days on filmmaking. Next week i'm shooting my first short film. I'm going to edit...

How to create the essential Hero

appreciate the input guys. I'd like to tell you. I'm going to start an experiment. I'm going to write a screenplay next week in five days based on a new idea. Hopefully it will be my screenwriting bootcamp. The first draft will probably suck, but to make all of other screenplays better, this...

Noob Indie Filmmaker making some life-critical decisions now

dlevanchuk - I understand what you're saying bro and I agree with it. I'm just taking the steps I need to so I can create the BEST possible short film I can. I've written a ton, but yes, I strive for perfection and have a fear of making something bad. That's probably why I've read too many...
