    Re-Using a Popular Film Name

So, I'm writing the script for my first feature, and I want it to be serious, it's a comedy but I want it to be taken seriously as a comedy, if that makes sense. It's a film about rowing, and in Buffalo, the big rowing club is called the West Side Rowing Club. So I figured I'd call the film...

    Going Rate for an Unprofessional

The easy part about Buffalo is the lack of competition or any real standards. I've seen businesses make their own commercials, some hire real experts. As nice as it must be to work from home, in buffalo making a decent commercial might only take a day.

I need help to determine which DSLR camera I should get

Well, the body and kit lens should be about $550, and the 55-250mm lens should be $150-200, so I'd say it's a great deal.

I need help to determine which DSLR camera I should get

I'd say a T3i with the kit lens and a 55-250mm lens is all you need. It beats an iPhone.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I'll charge a small upfront fee for equipment, and then asked to be paid hourly.

    Going Rate for an Unprofessional

Hey guys, SO I've picked up a few mom and pop shops that want me to direct commercials for them, and we're about to discuss financials. As someone who has never made a commercial before, should I work for free on the first few commercials, and then start charging after I build up experience...

What type of story do you like?

I'm more a fan of the first type, the second type is hard to master. If it is he second type, I like all of the plots to truly interact at the end.

    Next Step Above a DSLR

I think the C100 is fine for me- the "dated" aspect isn't a concern until 4k becomes the regular. But I think the blackmagic is also a good idea, but the C100 has the advantage of being compatable with my T3i lenses.

    What's everyone working on?

I just finished a high school sports montage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeSp3oll9EM&l Now I'm starting to write a script for my long awaited first feature-length film, which will be about rowing. I'm also starting to call in favors to see what I have to work with.

Directing a Commercial- In High School

Hey guys, quick question. Has anyone ever heard of someone directing a legitimate commercial in High School? I'd love to have an actual, aired commercial under my resume, but with an over saturated market, I'm fearful that I might come off as sounding silly. I was thinking of just asking a...

    Next Step Above a DSLR

Hey guys, excuse me if this has been asked before, but I'm looking to get a slightly more professional camera. I've heard on almost every thread about equipment that "what really matters is the person behind the camera, not the camera" but I'm still curious what the next best camera is to get...

    New Filmmaking YouTube Channel

Hey man, I just subbed, and it seems like you need some help with what direction to take your channel in. First you need to ask yourself if you want to make money off of your channel- if so, then you can't post any copyrighted music, like I do on my main channel. If you don't, then you can use...

    One-Man Film

Oh geez, I hope this is the right forum for this question, but considering this is my first thread, I'm guessing I can count as a newbie :P Anyway, on to my question. Does anyone have any ideas for a one-man film? Or any films they'd like to share where they only had themselves, a camera, and...

    Police Uniform

You can find forum posts about this if you Google "Rick Grimes sheriff costume," as for a regular non-sheriff costume, you need a black dress shirt and pants to start out. Unless of course you get a leather jacket and jeans and go for the 70s detective look. Of course, even a regular suit could...
