    Sticking out?

Yea, Filmy, where the hey have you been? I wouldn't even have to answer these types of questions if you were on the ball! :P Welcome back! Doug

why don't studios release their movies online as well?

I don't mind going to the theater alone, but it takes at least an hour longer for me to see a film at a theater than it does to watch it at home, and that can be a tipping point with my schedule. I only go to the theater to see movies that have big imagery, like action flicks, sci-fi movies...

why don't studios release their movies online as well?

I'm not sure if this is based in anything more than industry FUD. It's been shown that people who download music buy more music than people who don't. I, personally, would be more likely to buy a DVD if I could watch the movie on-line for a small fee, to see if I really like it. The DVDs in...

    Sticking out?

Make your characters come to life. Develop their back stories and personalities, and make them people we can relate to. Make them real, believable, memorable, and lovable. Doug

    Clueless about HD Cameras.

I'm not familiar with that one, Will. I admit, my knowledge of consumer cams is limited. I know B&H Photo has a used department (they sell used equipment that they have tested and inspected), and I believe Adorama probably does also. I can vouch for B&H, and their excellent level of service...

    sound zoom h2 and lavaliers?

To answer your original question, I don't think syncing audio would be that difficult; especially if all of the recordings run continuously and they are recorded on the same device. One of the complaints I've read about the H2 is that it sort of records at it's own speed so recordings are...

MEDIEVAL DEAD: a stop motion zombie movie

Awesome job! I loved the models, the lighting, camera angles, and sound effects. Doug

    sound zoom h2 and lavaliers?

It's pretty easy to sync sound as long as both microphones are recording the same conversation, so you can line up waveforms. If each of them has 1/2 the conversation, it could be tricky. Why don't you buy 1 Zoom H2 (I've read some bad reviews on those things, BTW), and a 2 channel wireless...

    StormCel Animation

Erik, I'm using Lightwave3D these days. I had learned Blender3D pretty well (I agree the interface is strange, but once you learn it, it's a fast modeling tool). Some bloke talked me into buying Lightwave so we could work together on a project. I spent a bazillion hours learning Lightwave...

    Clueless about HD Cameras.

One more note about memory cards; they are often just for storage of still images and configuration data, not for video. The video cameras that use standard memory cards, probably record with very limited/poor quality.

    Clueless about HD Cameras.

miniDV tape is probably the highest quality in the consumer range. You must capture the video in sequential fashion (you have to play the video and capture it at the same speed it was recorded). I've been doing it that way for years. It doesn't bother me much, but sometimes I wish I didn't...

    Clueless about HD Cameras.

You probably want a shotgun mic, and a boom! I'm not sure if there is such a thing as a boom mic. My suggestion is to make a homemade boom, per Knightly's DIY instructions ( Yafi Underground Media - click on equipment ), then, after you've saved all that money, collect aluminum cans and sell...

    canon XH A1

Ok, Nic. I'm typing this from inside my microwave, and it's running, so I'll have to type fast, and you probably won't get this before my head explodes. In a nutshell, I've experimented with day for night, but I've never been stuck doing it. There is probably a lot of better information out...

for those of you looking for prop guns

There were some great shots, the editing was sharp, and the sound effects were right on the mark. I'd be proud to say I had made it, if I did, but I didn't, of course. I wasn't involved in the making of it, nor do I know anyone who was, nor am I working for Nerf. Got that, Clive! ;) I...

    Severed head problems

That's pretty good, Will. I'm seriously impressed. That finger looks just like one I found in my chili while eating at my favorite restaurant. :D No, I didn't eat it. I took it home for my dog. Doug

    canon XH A1

Are you committed to shooting HD? The trouble with these HDV camcorders, as I understand it, is that they're packing more pixels onto the same size sensor, which means the pixels are smaller. Smaller pixels collect less light. I haven't tested this theory, but I'd think you could get better...

for those of you looking for prop guns

Someone sent this to me. It's a great, educational video. Office Nerf War Ok, this is just lunacy, and the "cinematography" may not be the greatest, but it's not bad for an office movie. I do feel bad for Harold. Doug

I am Hobo (free cookies inside :D)

I'm not sure about the plot ... I think there were some gaps. :D However, you had some nice shots in there, and some of the scenes made me laugh. I'd say you're off to a great start. Doug

    1000dollarfilm to become a magazine

I always spray my laptop with deer urine to keep would-be freeloaders away from it. The trouble is, it tends to attract flies.
