Solved it,I hadn't set my media folder right.I can now import the footage to resolve.I am now having some trouble with a pop up saying "your gpu memory is full". I assume thats my RAM?If so I'll just have to close all other applications and try again.

Ok quick update,exported MP4 files work in FCP7 but I'm not sure if the quality has taken a knock. The problem now is FCP7 has to think for a few seconds before I can press anything at all,this would make editing impossible.
