    Magic Lantern

is THAT what that is. I noticed it a while ago and genuinely hold breath in fear until it goes away. Yeah I had issues when I messed with the bit rates, obv couldn't handle it and kept stopping recording. So leaft as they were.

Making a Music Video - legal standing?

Very much depends on what the band has given away when they signed the deal. Typical for a label to want to co-ordinate press/videos release as a strategic thing, which is undermined if there is previous "rogue" content flying around. So it's quite possible they aren't being dicks by asking you...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

I read somewhere that the guys in the film were real life scientists but a quick google doesn't prove anything to back that up except that Director/Actor Shane Carruth studied physics when writing it. But does seem he went for real life Physics jargon and terminology over simplification for...

Two of my absolute favourite timetravel films. Love them both. Timecrimes is beautifully simple, Primer totally the other way... convincingly complex..which I prefer to having some banal explanation that a 5year old could grasp. Dancer In the Dark - Oh Bjork you are so beguiling I could watch...

    the lessons of Prores workflows

Cool!! But ya need to be careful when explaining technical info as typos can lead to confusion!! I use XDCAM instead of PRORES for small scale projects and test shoots, mainly to save disk space. It's slightly 'lighter' than ProRES but I can't really see much visual difference between them. And...

    accents

So many variations of regional accents in the UK .... and then there's the student accent...Lord knows where that comes from but thousands of 18 year olds from all over the UK turn up on campus and within minutes start conversing in a very strange type of RP!! ;) But yes Manchester, Liverpool...

    film question - film look

This is the DK one... Found it eventually!! http://youtu.be/801sR_U1Xkw There was an article that led me to this that took apart Insomnia... But no idea where that came from. Interesting rather than conclusive obviously!

    film question - film look

Some interesting debate on this floating around the web. Particularly an action scene from TDK that's on YouTube... visionary breaking every rule in the book OR an absolute mess of incohesive shots. I care neither way but filming bits in IMAX and others not seems like a baffling choice for a...

HOTEL - Described appropriately as "the tension of Haneke and the visuals of Lynch". Beautifully shot and paced but the apathetic characters and lack of resolution could displease many. I really enjoyed it though. 7.5/10

That program is awful. Supposed to be humorous I guess but it's really petty and daft.

    Soderbergh Retires

Director Stephen Soderbergh has said his next film Side Effects will be his last. Guardian Film article I'm half way through the rather plodding and disparate CHE. But DID enjoy Sex Lies and Video Tape. Out Of Sight I thought was excellent. Oceans 11,12,13 are all good popcorn movies. So...

    How music video directors work?

UK Websites like ArtsJobs and Star Now often have companies looking for people to pitch for music video work. If you only want to work with music you like... then showreels sent to record labels/Music PR/Management and/or bands would be a way to get yourself known to them.

Am i the only one that thinks this scene is underrated?

As much as I hate superhero films the lure of Michel Gondry does make me want to see this. Very inventive scene. I like that!!
