    what mount are these ?

(Going by the last pic.) The first one - Canon f/2.8 - is certainly FD-mount, the second one... not totally sure (looks similar to FD, but...). The third (Tamron) looks to be threaded/screw and may possibly be M42. FD-to-EOS converters are available on eBay but they involve optics to correct...

    DIY "Anamorphic Lens Flares"

Thanks for sharing this! I've experimented with multiple lines across the lens (with nice results), but that setup looks really interesting!

Why can't filmmaking be done as a serious hobby or just for fun?

In my experience, it's hard to find people who are willing to do film work for the sheer fun of it. Even harder to find one who wants to be anything except "director". (But then again, I'm in southern Mississippi... so pickins are slim to begin with.) I'd say the average person starts out...

    Yet ANOTHER grain overlay option?

Ernest: Thanks for checking it out! In some ways the damaged 8mm effect is easier to accomplish than "natural"-ish grain. Paul: Glad you liked it! Did you find it easy to adjust via Brightness + Contrast and/or Opacity? Thank you for giving it a try!

    Yet ANOTHER grain overlay option?

Here's a quick before-and-after. In this case, the grain layer's contrast has been increased to accentuate the grain.

    Yet ANOTHER grain overlay option?

As I mentioned in another thread, grain overlays are really catching on these days. I've been a fan of filmic/organic grain for quite some time, and have incorporated it into many projects using home-brewed techniques. (I was a software developer for quite a few years.) But this was mostly...

    8mm Distress Kit

IndieBudget: What PaulGriffith says... It actually winds up being a non-issue with film scans since essentially every frame is different, so there's no scene movement or whatever between frames. Actually when you interpret the clips (in AE, etc.) to 24p, you gain a little extra play time from...

    8mm Distress Kit

Not affiliated with these guys, but I've used these clips in projects before and thought I'd share with my fellow filmmakers. http://www.mediapreview.net/8mm.htm

Grain 35: Affordable Film Grain for your Digital Footage

Hi Ernest! I really like GorillaGrain's stuff. Very aesthetically pleasing. I suppose that's subjective, but it's definitely got an "organic" feel. The first ones I got were in H.264/MOV, but they recently did a generous upgrade price for previous buyers. This included additional 35mm grain...

Grain 35: Affordable Film Grain for your Digital Footage

Another benefit to introducing grain is that it helps reduce banding. I often like to add grain before color correcting or at least before pushing the contrast of a clip.

Grain 35: Affordable Film Grain for your Digital Footage

There is quite a difference between the plugin-generated stuff vs. the actual scans. The closest I've gotten to a pleasing (at least to me) look with a plugin was an old copy of Cinelook FilmDamage in AE.

    End Credit Song

A strong ending can make all the difference in the world; and the right song to enhance that can go a long way. It's the last thing resonating in the audience's mind when the film is over.

editing Integrating 2.5D Set with Green Screen Footage. wScreenshot

Hey man! A couple suggestions that may help: - To get a clean key, try to eliminate those wrinkles as much as possible. It makes a huge difference if you can stretch the fabric across the wall. This smooth/flat surface allows for more even light across the surface. - You may find it easier...

archived-videos Short claymation test on VHS

Stumbled across this old stop-motion test while searching some VHS tapes and decided to upload it. From what I recall, this was done in or around 1998. (My high school teacher got me an academic copy of Adobe Premier 5, which I believe had just come out during that time.) Very short, no sound...
