How long can a screenplay continue after this event?

If the main villain is the main and the last problem to solve, then probably the story should end shortly afterwards. But if the protagonist has another goal to achieve, like a marriage proposal or something, then it's ok that it goes for extra 5-10 pages.

THE GENERAL REGISTRY OF CLICHE LINES

Why not? It may be a cliche, but it's the most common and convenient way to tell a group of people to leave the current place/location. Well, maybe except "Let's go", but that's a cliche too.

synopsis Need feedback to my short film idea (detailed synopsis)

The "bogus" background story is this: The producer urgently needs a rock band for a concert, so he contacts the young couple, promising to hire them for years if they do well. But then, he gets an opportunity to sign with an already established rock band from abroad. There are 4 hours before the...

THE WALLY - Expanding the American consciousness

As far as I see in many films and TV-series, stereotypes exist to give a first reference to a complicated character, and not introduce all of his "skeletons in the closet" at the beginning of the film. For example, you can see a stereotype geek, but later you learn, that he kills cats and sells...

Ah, no. I'm reconstructing the synopsis, because it doesn't fit the new idea. There won't be any new search

How about this one: A young couple of rockers has 4 hours to form a rock band to be hired by a famous producer, before they get evicted for not paying the rent.

THE WALLY - Expanding the American consciousness

You are wrong about the American school stereotypes. They are more divided then how you've illustrated that: 1 - Jock (cool but stupid) 2 - Alpha Male (the same as the jock, but not stupid) 3 - Bad Boy (usually has problems with the police) 4 - Weed Boy 5 - Wanna-Pussy-All-The-Time Boy (the one...

Couple doesn't mean married. :) Or it does? Well, that's my bad English :( I didn't mean married. But you've brought a valid point. They probably need to be on an early stage of their relationship, because if they live together, they can just share the money. Or should they not be in a...

synopsis Need feedback to my short film idea (detailed synopsis)

I thought a bit about a stake and came to a simple one: Yair has a huge casino debt, and has a few month to return it. Finding an ordinary job won't be enough, so he needs something really high payed. And since playing guitar is the only thing he can do, he goes to a rock music producer to join...

synopsis Need feedback to my short film idea (detailed synopsis)

The main idea of the story that the producer, who was mocked all his life by these 2 guitarists, now wants to test them if they will respect as a person, not because they depend on him, so he disguises as a janitor. The idea of the competition is to distract the audience from him, so that the...

Each of the couple must hire a band faster than the other to get into the band himself. The fact that the other one might be the first, and get the place in the band instead of himself... why isn't it a stake?

Here are the logline, the premise and the detailed synopsis for a short film idea (10-12 min). Any constructive critique or detailed feedback is appreciated. Before reading the synopsis, please read the logline and the premise, and tell me if it's well constructed and tells what the story is...

    Notes Exchange!

Sounds cool. Let me finish my short film script of 10-12 min (or at least synopsis), and I'll start a new thread with it. But I think it will be better if you give a 2-page review to a script, not to a synopsis, no matter how detailed it is, so you'll have to wait a little longer. And then I'll...

Filming a Feature Film With an iPhone

If you have the budget to shoot a feature film (I assume you have, if you want to do that), why don't you pay out some more to borrow a camera from a storage? It wouldn't be that much, comparing to other things you have to pay for. How much does it cost per day in your country?

What type of story do you like?

From my experience, all non-consecutive movies I've seen are great. But where is the limit between straight forward and non-consecutive? Which type the movie Franklyn belongs to?

Feeling, meaning or situation - which of them is a good start?

I think I have an idea. It teaches a lesson, it has an emotional burst. It is (or supposed to be) a comedy/dramedy. But it lacks events. It has a beginning an an ending. No middle. And I can't think of any final punch-line (comedies are not comedies without them). I also thought about taking a...

Feeling, meaning or situation - which of them is a good start?

I need an idea for a short film (15 minutes), as fast as I can. I have 2 weeks to come with a final draft script (maybe not final, but something I can start working on it to shoot). I can start with a feeling I want the audience to feel (hope, despair, love, compassion, anger) I can start with...

tv-writing Golden age of TV series instead of Cinema - true?

Cable or television, the result is the same - we see series. Many talents (especially writers) prefer series over cinema. Maybe, as some said above, it's because writers have more power there, than in cinema. I've heard it from someone and found something about that on the internet, but it was...
