lighting Lighting small rooms with two lights?

Wow, thanks for the amazing response! How powerful do the clamp lights have to be? And where is a good place to get them? And do you have any suggestions for hanging a paper lantern?

lighting Lighting small rooms with two lights?

I'm going to be shooting a web series very soon, and a large part of it takes place in an apartment. The only location that is readily available to use is quite small. I already purchased a wide angle lens for my camera because a wide shot is incredibly hard to get in the cramped quarters...

Shot some sparring at my Thai Boxing gym in Toronto yesterday. Whipped it together to some music and uploaded, to see how the footage looks on the interwebs. This camera is amazing. Only cost me 500 :) http://vimeo.com/19120453

cinematography Camera settings for most flexible PP?

Hey guys! Just wanted to know what the best "neutral" settings are for allowing a flexible post production? Basically, I want to have as much flexibility with color correction as possible. Any tips?

    editing Audio levels

I've chosen to the go the route of a Juicedlink adapter for my audio needs, and that means that the audio will be written into the video file in my camcorder. All this talk of audio mixing is making me think that I should separate the audio and video after I complete a 24p pulldown (PF24 </3)...

editing Any tutorials for 24p Pulldown Removal?

There's another alternative called VoltaicHD, which is like 5 times cheaper. Have you had any experiences with that? And aside from these, there's a little freeware program someone on another forum coded up, that apparently outperforms Neo Scene with pulldown removal. I understand the codec...

editing Any tutorials for 24p Pulldown Removal?

The Canon HFS21 shoots native 24p. I have the Canon HF21, a different version. There isn't much info about my camera on the net -- but it is the follow up to the Canon H20. As far as functionality goes, you can think of this camera as being identical to the H20, which does not shoot native 24p.

By NLE I assume you mean editing software? (Sorry, not in tune with complex PP lingo :P). I'm using Vegas Pro 8.0 to edit

editing Any tutorials for 24p Pulldown Removal?

I recently purchased a Canon HF21, and I am in serious need of a pulldown tutorial. I have found nothing useful. The expensive software (Neo Scene) does it quite easily -- but I'm not willing to shell out 100+ bucks just so I can get pulldown removal. Does anyone have experience with pulldown...

Cool stuff. Something no one else mentioned. CONTINUITY! It sort of killed the film for me. Camera is focused on the driver. Quick cut to passenger. Quick cut to driver. Driver's hands are now on a different part of the steering wheel.

New to the forum and filmmaking

You've definitely got the right idea. Story is king, as everyone on this board will tell you. If you have a good script, technical short comings will be a lot more forgivable. However, if we can't HEAR or SEE how great the script is, it's all moot, really. Can you "get by" using your laptop to...

New to the forum and filmmaking

The integrated mic definitely is not enough. This may seem like a cop-out post, but you really should've done a little more research before purchasing a camera. Film making is an expensive hobby, and unnecessary expenses carry a heavy burden. Unfortunately, cameras are one of the more expensive...

    Budgeting Equipment Help

Well, the Sennheiser shotgun is on an unbalanced connection, so you won't be able to have it on a boom. So, if you want to make films, this mic will be useless. You can definitely use the lavalier mic for dialogue in your films, but why would you pay extra for a mic you don't need? Not sure how...

    Mic?

If you use it correctly, it'll make a WORLD OF A DIFFERENCE! I have the Audio Technica AT897. It's great. I love it. For that price range, you can also get the RODE NTG-2 (NOT the Videomic), or an Azden. As long as you have the mic on a boom, have it placed correctly to pick up your talent, it...
