Shooting a scene in a car without a car rig

Okay, so, I'm close to moving into pre-production into a brand new film that I'll be shooting around the 20th of December. However, there's a bit of a problem. The script is approx. seven pages, and most of that is set inside a car. Now, during about half of this, the car is parked. I've tried...

    archived-videos Final Breath (short)

Hey, thanks for the reply. To reply to a few notes: I definatley want to work on capturing better visuals. In the case of this film, I lacked the resources to really work with a lot of lighting etc, but it's an area where I need to improve. Is there anything specific w/r/t visuals that I should...

    archived-videos Final Breath (short)

Hey everyone. It occurred to me that I never put up my latest short on here for feedback. Seeing as how I think I'm generally happy with it, I thought I would. I recognize that I really do need to work on capturing good audio, but I think the decision to do something of a much smaller scale...

What do you mean by "hard for you to see"? Also, were there any parts where this stood out to you more?

editing Thoughts On This WIP Edit?

Okay, so, we wrapped up shooting my new film on Friday. Right now, I'm working on my edit, so I decided to try and get some input. This is basically just picture edit. It still has scratch audio and no colour grade, so try to just look at the edits themselves. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Looking at getting a Lenovo Y40-80

Hey, so, I've recently decided that I need something that's actually decently capable of doing good video editing, rather than my quickly aging X220. I don't have a ton of money, but does anyone think that the $850 version of the Lenovo Y40-80 is capable? I don't currently foresee myself...

archived-videos The Locker - A short psychological horror piece

I just shot this as part of a film class I'm taking. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it, although I think a few of the shots are a bit too dark. Would appreciate some criticisms. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Z4MnOHYSM3I

    Problems with film partner...

Okay, so, I'm taking a film class this semester. The first major project we're doing is a minute long short. We've each been paired with a partner for logistical reasons. That's where my problem is. Maybe I'm being too harsh, but my partner is completely incompetent in almost every way. I'm...

What makes Game Of Thrones episode 1 worth watching?

Go watch the first five minutes of a movie, then do a review. I mean, man, if you couldn't make it through the first episode that's fine, but what are you doing bitching on the internet about it?

    I believe in 48 FPS

I dunno man, 48 looks a bit plasticey, dontcha think? That being said, I'm not a huge action movie person, so I can't speak to how it'd work with those.

    What Are You Reading?

I'm reading more orwell, homage to Catalonia. As a person who has occasionally ideologically flirted with anarchism, it's pretty interesting.

cinematography can I avoid paying for colour grading by shooting black and white?

Thanks everybody. I'm not shooting any time soon, just wanted to know my options. I may still want to shoot in b/w, but if I do it will probably be for aesthetic reasons. Doesn't sound like I'm going to save anything by doing it. Oh, and I will look into the stuff you said, sweetie. Thanks.

cinematography can I avoid paying for colour grading by shooting black and white?

Yeah, so, I'm realising that if I ever get to shoot a feature, the budget's gonna be super fucking tight. I feel like what I'm writing might work well in black and white, so I'm wondering if I can save some money in post. Thoughts?
