    Audio Equipment

At a minimum I'd recommend the Rode Video Mic Pro (or the Stereo Video Mic Pro) and a good audio recorder. After that you can upgrade to fit your sound needs (which partially depends on what your filming).

lighting Help! Looking for Flicker-Free lighting options for high speed Green Screen

May only need about 8 seconds, but I'm asking as if its really expensive I'll scale back my slow-mo to outdoors only... Or just 120fps

lighting Help! Looking for Flicker-Free lighting options for high speed Green Screen

Fastest I can go is 480fps, but 120/240 are better quality and less lighting required.

lighting Help! Looking for Flicker-Free lighting options for high speed Green Screen

So as I make more and more films, I'm wanting to do more sci-fi/fantasy based, and use location footage from around the world. So looking forward I need to setup a green screen in either my garage or spare room in my house. Garage - concrete floor, longer space, high ceiling but less...

Software to turn your Actors into 3D Characters

Saw this on Indiegogo, I can see this as a super useful software for those of use who make sci-fi and fantasy films on a budget :) It's called facerig and I thought I would share (hope that is okay) because this software is exactly what I'm looking for in my next movie which has a ship board AI...

    3-Axis Gimbal Options and Thoughts

I've been looking at getting a 3-axis gimbal for some of my shoots. Mainly as I want to get away from Jib and Dolly shots given my often "on man band" on set (often 2 man band, me on the camera directing and 1 sound person); anything beyond sticks or limited handheld takes up too much time or...

Looking for a Spacesuit for a film

I did this search, you will note that the suits are either >$1000 (2.5k) or $100-200 Halloween costumes. There is one option for $750 for a 1 week rental which again goes over my budget unless I shoot the whole movie in a week (which is doable but ideally I'd like a little more shooting time on...

    Focus Puller for Nikon Glass

90% of my lenses are Nikon, I'm looking for a good focus puller gear system for those lenses (rotate backwards compared to canon with shorter throws). It would be mounted to a rail system on an FS700 using metabones adapters. Fastest speed glass is f1.2 but with the Speedbooster I'm getting an...

Looking for a Spacesuit for a film

For the suit, if its more ill have to raise additional funds but suits for $5-10k are just not practical. Canadian if that really makes a big difference...

Looking for a Spacesuit for a film

I'm looking at doing a sci-fi film a d I'm in need for a spacesuit. The style (NASA, Steampunk, 10,000 leagues under the sea, futuristic, etc) can be pretty much anything. But it needs to be a full suit that has detail to hold up to close-up shots. I'm working on the budget but would like to...

editing Film in Three Month - Post-Production Stage

Onwards and upwards they say... Spill over from the production post - http://www.indietalk.com/showthread.php?t=50091 So now on to editing, using Premier Pro as the NLE (because its what I have and used to). I'm editing away... Currently finished the rough edit (select takes, and crop to...

Film in Three Month - Production Stage

2 Parts Strawberry : 1 part Chocolate syrup for milk. Added a few drops of water for required liquidity, worked like a charm for my purposes.

    Casting yourself in your film.

Low/No Budget director/actor Vincent Valentino - a good friend of mine for over a decade acts and directs his own movies, I help with a lot of the camera work when he is in front of it. Check Out his 'Vick's' Series - http://valentinofilms.ca/ That said I can't do it (act/direct at the same...

Film in Three Month - Production Stage

Sunday was about 25 scenes of the movie, that was the longest day for sure.

Film in Three Month - Production Stage

Quick 'things I would of done differently' notes: 1. Overall extremely happy with those selected as dual cast/crew, but 1 dedicated AD/PA would of been a great addition. 2. Next time check the location before shooting myself (used reference photos), thΓ© cottage was amazone but...

Film in Three Month - Production Stage

Well that was a fun wild ride, to update, wrapped the movie in 3.5 days, had 1/2 a day to just 'breath'... Everyone had fun and we tended to shoot from 7am to about 8 pm with breaks for lunch & dinner. Afterwards we had bonfires at the cottage (and shot 2 nights for night scenes in the movie)...

Film in Three Month - Production Stage

In Ottawa/Gatineau film permits are free (tree are costs if you need something fancy/requiring a police officer on set) if you have the insurance. PM me insurance details, its depending on who and what your doing etc. I have a behind the scene photo/videographer with me. But may give the Gopro...

cinematography Water everywhere - how best to protect camera and lens?

I use a underwater camera for those shots, then get it wet on purpose for effect! Then people who know how expensive my primary camera is are super impressed (and think I'm crazy, but meh... that's normal)!

Film in Three Month - Production Stage

A follow over form this forum thread - http://www.indietalk.com/showthread.php?t=49908 I've finished with pre-production, script took only 2 weeks to co-write and we started filming this weekend all the 'non-cottage' scenes for our cottage-based comedy-thriller, plan is to be done principal...

Pre-production for a Feature in 3 weeks - Make it so!

Location will help a lot, shooting in Ottawa is great, but travel/setup time does eat the hours away in a day
