    editing Help with animated title

Hey guys, I need to create a simple animated title. It will display time in a format such as "10:45:23 AM." That part is static. Then the animation is supposed to "flip" those numbers over, and in turn revealing a new set a numbers (a new title). Ex: 10:45:23 AM numbers and letters flip over...

Hahaha! Good stuff as always man. The first one has something indeed, but the second is brilliant from concept to execution!

    NetFlix and "throttling"

That's one of the reasons I cancelled. In the three accounts I've had with Netflix in the past, I have to say, his results are right on the money. Netflix really does discrimate and favors new accounts. Well, I don't need to add anything really if you've seen the website... This also works...

    NetFlix and "throttling"

They did the same thing with me. I used to have the service in Ohio, just a little farther from the shipping center than mrde50. As I said earlier, when I first signed up (more than four years ago), they would aknowledge my movie in two days tops (usually one day, then they would send it the...

    NetFlix and "throttling"

I thought they were sued about this... I had the three-at-a-time subsciption too, but cancelled my account due to too much throttleing. When I first got NetFlix (just about when they started business) they did not do this (or at least not so much). The first year I was really impressed. Then...

    Ligthing DV

The gain setting boosts the image electronically and that is what is causing the grainy feeling. You should avoid using it. Therefore, set it to "0" (zero) or "-3". You are right in choosing a shutter speed of 1/50 sec (which is also to most 'cinematic,' closest to film shutter speed) As for...

    archived-videos Darkness

Just wanted to let everyone know Aaron [Shaw] has generously offered his services to redo all the composites (keying, picture composite, etc). He's been working on it for a while now and the footage I've seen so far looks amazing. Can't wait to share a more polished version of the film with...

    Dvd... Rip?

I think you have nothing to worry about regarding DVDs. After all, people still buy movies on VHS! Plus next gen DVD players will have no problem playing current DVDs.

    Reliability of your camera?

directorik, I have an XL1S (PAL) which I have used exponentially less than you. I never had the heads cleaner and alined. When I fast forward or rewind (especially when I rewind), quite often, the camera will 'chew' the tape. Is this a side-effect from lack of cleaning/alining? knightly...

    Bloated Hollywood Crap...

Man, you make it sound like these guys are coming to your house, dragging you to the theater, taking your money and forcing you to watch the film at gunpoint. I've seen The Island with friends who got it from NetFlix. It reminded me a little of THX. Other than that, there's not much there...

archived-videos Movie I've been working on is almost done

Are we to assume that Clive may be participating in some way? But since I have no ideas for that theme right now, I have to say that's a terrible, terrible idea, Clive. I filmed something called Kamikaze Makeover once...tsk tsk...what was I thinking?

Are there times when you're not? :hmm: By the way that picture is on the site. Every time you visit it, it shows you a different picture...or you can hit reload over and over...anyway, it's in pile. Another film was added today: "The Blue Hour". This is one of the few films where we hired...

Flaviu Man >> http://www.flaviuman.com Flaviu, now an ex-model, always had more fun behind the camera. In his year-and-a-half stay here, he churned out three "memorable" IndieTalk short films (with IndieTalk crew members), produced two 'promos' for Philippino television, traveled to Canada to...

JVC HD-100/101 ... any one used one?

Thank you to Aaron for bringing all the facts together on one page. I was a little more abstract with the crayons...Not very helpful ;). I was talking about DV and HDV anyway. I didn't bring DVCPro in the conversation because the original topic was about JVC/HDV, but I think it's pretty...

I completely agree. The rest of this post comes with a disclaimer: Everything below is my opinion. As Clive mentioned, I do not know how you will absorb this informtion, but remember that it's an opinion only. [and it's also 3AM...] I believe understanding this 'stuff' makes me a better...

I was not being sarcastic at all. I just wanted to leave you a comment on the animation before I logged off. Short and blunt message can be easily misinterpreted.

I have a comment on the animation. There a discrepancy between the rocket and the background. I think if you change the angle of the rocket (tilt the nose 'up' more toward the center of the screen) it would look more natural.

JVC HD-100/101 ... any one used one?

Consult your DP. As for my 'understanding compression' comment: I am the kind of person that likes to know how things work. I suggested that you guys try and get an understanding of video compression because it helps you understand the digital medium that you are working with. That...
