Fantastic! I thought it was great.

archived-videos Nothing in the Dark [Short Horror Film]

Not bad overall. Acting was decent, story was interesting and would be good to be expanded upon. Couple of jumps here and there. The most striking things were the poor lighting and poor sound (the dialog at the beginning between the two gents is way too low). For a cheap boom pole just get a...

    archived-videos The Queen's Gambit - Short Film

I mostly agree with wridingrlm. Needed more sounds other than the voices and the music. Also, the colors were somewhat muted and everything seemed sort of dull. Acting was kind of weak, though it did have promise (I got the feeling that if they had got into the skins of the characters a bit...

Way better than I thought it was going to be. Painful aspect ratio though.

archived-videos Helper - First Short Film

It was really good, and the acting was actually not bad for what it was. The parts that didn't work for me was the running of the friend at the beginning. It didn't convey a since of urgency or of frantic action. Keep tight on the run and only go wide at certain points maybe? The other thing...

archived-videos Shattered Glass - Single Camera

I liked it! Great work on the Foley! I would have used a tripod for all but the scenes with the robber, dropped the music out maybe a bit earlier, and used a bit tighter shots in some places. Other than that, good job!

    editing mastering a HD verison

Hmm, I'm definitely not at the point yet, but I was kind of worrying/wondering about what to do when finished making the movie. How did you find one? Yellowpages?

    Questions regarding post

Wow, thanks for the reply, informative yet disheartening at the same time. I can get a discount on Premiere or AE (already got the AE) from my school, but for some reason they don't offer the full bundle. If I bought the Premiere would it make is simpler than that, or do I need the...

    Questions regarding post

I started doing some test footage just to get a feel for the camera and to also get practice on the post aspect. I ran in to problems. My first problem and question is, does anyone know an efficient way to use Vegas Pro 9 and AE? To the best of my knowledge, if I want to edit my project...

    Camera Question

Thanks for the help wheat! My camera didn't have the manual options, but using the zoom DOF trick you posted, I've got good results with test footage.

    Camera Question

Thanks for all the info on the filters, that was helpful. Unfortunately I don't think my camera has all the manual options that yours does. I haven't had a chance to look at it to deeply (pesky work keeps getting in the way) but I don't think it does just from my casual observances. I'll have...

    Camera Question

Thanks wheatgrinder[b], I'll try that out tomorrow when I get a chance and some decent light. I have a ND Filter, but it makes everything really dark (using auto everything), so I assume that using all these manual settings will give a more usable image with the ND filter on? Thanks again for...

Best work I have done yet

I liked it. I don't know if you were going for a dark humor thing, but I laughed when I the hammer came down. Also the piano riff was delightfully creepy. Maybe a better tripod so that it won't seem so jerky while you are panning.

    Camera Question

Hey all! So I've got my camera a Canon Vizia HF10 and I'm going to start doing some testing with it. I've got a question about what settings I should use. I've gone over and played around with the settings but I haven't found any combination that appears great. What would you all recommend...

FINALLY ready to start doing this!

I don't understand what you mean by having trouble ejecting the camera from the computer. I have a Canon HF10, I just import using windows (I don't see a point in using the bundled software), I think it works better that way.

    My computer and editing

Hey guys, I have an opportunity to upgrade to a new computer on the cheap. Two different models are available, which one do you think will work best with dealing with Sony Vegas, Canon HF10, and the awesome Cineform Neo Scene (thanks Will!) Asus M3N-HT Deluxe/HDMI Motherboard. Capable of 3...

    My computer and editing

Thanks for the info! I'll check that out. $130 is a small price to pay if it will ease this jumpy editing.

    My computer and editing

Hi all, I've got questions about editing software. The camera I bought is Canon HF10, I'm trying out a trial version of Sony Vegas Pro 9, and I'm running it all on my Dell Inspiron 1545. Windows 7 home premium Pentium(R) Dual Core CPU T4200 @ 2.0Ghz 2gigs of Ram 32-bit operating system...
