    my first 'real' short film

On the subject of post, yes you can do all the post work in CS4 with the master collection. As for system specs, my computer I use for HD editing has 8GB of DDR3 RAM, quad-core processor, 7200 rpm hard drive with 1 TB of storage, and an Nvidia GeForce 9100 graphics card. It works quite well...

    editing Sony Vegas 9

I've been using Vegas Pro for several months now. I highly recommend it. It's easy to learn how to use it, yet it is still a powerful software.

    archived-videos The Boogeyman (2010)

Looks good, Gerard! The first short film I ever attempted was an adaptation of Stephen King's short story The Man Who Loved Flowers, using the Dollar Baby deal. Granted, it turned out horribly and I don't even think I ever finished editing it, but it was a start, anyway.

    archived-videos Jacked - a neo/noir comedy

I really enjoyed the film. The audio was very good, and so was the cinematography. Well written dialogue as well. Very nice!

    Hello from Baltimore

Hey Kevin, does Towson have a good film program? I live in Frederick, and Towson's in state prices would be nice. I've just never really thought of the MD state schools as having notable film programs.

    Tarantino/Nolan/Hughes influcenced screenplay

Nolan wrote Following, he wrote the screenplay for Memento based on a short story by his brother, and co-wrote the screenplay for The Dark Knight with his brother. I'd be willing to take a look at your script. Send me a message for my e-mail address.

    After Effects- Need Help!

Thanks guys, I'm going to watch some Video Copilot tutorials when I get the chance. I downloaded blood and a few muzzle flashes from Detonation Films yesterday and browsed the site, they've got some awesome stuff.

    After Effects- Need Help!

Well, I figured out how to remove the black background from the image using Gimp. Still trying to figure out the second one.

    After Effects- Need Help!

Hi all, I've recently started using After Effects, and I'm having a lot of trouble with the learning curve. I'm relatively experienced with editing in Vegas Pro but the workflow of After Effects is an entirely different ballgame. I'm testing some stuff out for a future film, and I need help on...

editing Best Software for .MOD files

FWIW, I've had no problems capturing into Vegas Pro 9 with the FS200. I just put the card into a card reader, import the clips, and drop the clips from my video library into the timeline. I haven't had issues with the MOD file type.

    editing editing software

Like others have said, "best" is subjective, but personally, I love Sony Vegas Pro. I haven't really found much that it can't do that Final Cut can. (I've used both, but I've used Vegas more extensively.)

    Difficulty of AVCHD

Hello, I'm going to be purchasing an HD camera soon, and after months of research, I still cannot decide between HDV and AVCHD. There are advantages to both. I'm not a big fan of tapes but AVCHD is more expensive and harder to edit. My main question I have is, how difficult is editing AVCHD...

    Best PC For Editing

Well, I already decided a few days after buying the PC to go ahead and connect it online, because like you said, I'm not depending on my PC for business or anything like that. But I am very careful about the sites I visit, and I do lots of scanning for viruses using Norton Security Suite.

    Best PC For Editing

Well, after doing some research and getting a lot of help from a friend of mine who knows computers well, I decided to take the plunge today and get a PC. This is what I ended up with...

    Best PC For Editing

I've been exploring the "build your own" route, but I'm a little leery of doing that, especially spending $1000 on it. This is the PC I'm looking at right now as my first choice...

    Best PC For Editing

I don't know why I didn't think of that, haha. Thanks for the suggestions. On a similar note, I am a little confused by all this talk of external hard drives. I have had many people tell me I am going to want to use them for my editing. What exactly does this mean? Am I saving all my raw files...

    Best PC For Editing

I have heard this before, and it makes sense, but how do you usually upload to Youtube/Vimeo? My current editing computer which is a piece of crap isn't connected to the internet, and I upload by burning a DVD and ripping the file from the DVD using Altysoft DVD Ripper on my other computer, then...

editing Final Cut Studio 3 or Creative Suite 4 Production Premium

I'd go with Final Cut Studio if you already have a Mac. A lot of very good Hollywood and indie features were done in FCP, and the rest of the suite is also very good software.
