🎬 IndieTalk - Filmmaking and Screenwriting help site and community. By filmmakers, for filmmakers since 2003
Totally valid criticism and it is NOT a stand alone piece, not at all. It's supplemental to the documentary..... that is not public yet.
At best, I can show the trailer
and this other supplemental piece
Nominated.... did not win either.
yeah, IndieTalk has always been a great source for inspiration in a more general sense, but for me and this documentary, it is directly the literal source of the material that is in the documentary.
as in specifically these threads
I NEVER THOUGHT THIS...
I have been working for 3 years now on a feature length documentary about when an internet troll came to St. Joseph Missouri. My own history with this troll began here on Indietalk.com
The video above is not from the documentary proper but is more of a mini-doc update on some of what has been...
Hey Rik! We might be planning a Los Angeles screening in the next few months when we're out there shooting some interviews for part 2 of the series.
It's not even DONE done... the documentary already got 2 regional Emmy nominations and I'm still re-editing the damn thing. New material keeps...
Yes it is.... and Indietalk.com gets a cameo in the film!
On a side note, there is an update. Not a part of the documentary, but more like a bonus thing

Most (if not all) software is scalable in terms of efficiency with editing by proxy or lowering the edit resolution, so it still comes back to preference.
DaVinci Resolve is also a very viable option. Been using it a bit more recently and I like it. Not as much as Premiere Pro, but I do like it.
Again, the point is subjective. What is "best" for you may not be for the original poster. Only he/she can know what is the right tool for what they need.
We can argue the semantics, but basically, there really is no such thing as "which is better" as much as it is "which is better FOR YOU"...
That sucks. The editors on my documentary all got laid off two months ago from their day jobs. It really blows out there in LaLa land right now. I'm sorry to hear that, but glad you're getting something. I've gotten a decent amount of Technical Directing jobs for live streams.
It's primarily subjective.
Which car is better, a Ford Mustang or a Dodge Challenger?
It's preferential and different people can feel entirely different about which software is "better" too.
License Exam (2 min)
Shot this in 2004 on 16mm film, recently had it re-transferred to 6.5K and then re-edited it, soon to be a Cinestudy project too.
