Country shoots are notoriously horrible. I was on a shoot a couple years ago where we had to have a starter pistol shot off before each take for 20 seconds of silence from the cicadas. Those guys can get up over 100 dB SPL (loud bar music) We would only have enough silence to get good dialogue...

In my humble opinion I don't like this mic at all. It's battery powered and starts to make noise when the batteries are almost out. It also doesn't output enough level to sound good with consumer-brand preamps. I think a better buy is the Rode NTG-1. It gives a slightly higher output but...

In all honesty, that is pretty cool that it can do that, but when exactly would you use it...? I feel like saying: "I'll buy one when I make a movie in 29x3 aspect ratio - which will be never"......

Footloose. 9/10 My wife made me watch it with her and I laughed more than she did. Dunno why I liked it - it's over the top in a silly way but great acting overall (except the main girl had a SUPER annoying voice)
