    Toronto charity needing help, anyone?

Hiya! I'm doing something for a charity in London and need to film someone out in Toronto. I have a list of questions I want to ask them. I do their interviews in the UK, completely pro bono (I'm a professional filmmaker) as I want to make a difference and this organisation has done some...

What I need is a serious, long-term relationship with investors who back movies and want to see a clear opportunity to get them a return on their money. This is that opportunity to make those relationships and get us a producer who is used to raising money. That's all dependent on getting an...

budget Soon doing our first paid gig, no idea what price to ask for.

The UK music video market is lousy. £1,000 will buy you someone willing to do everything you've been doing. Sony paid a mate of mine £5,000 for vid. Technically it was £10k, but half went to the music vid producer who acted as an agent. Out of his £5k, he had to pay for everything. I've...

The other way around. If we get enough funding to shoot, we are looking for some more funding on top. The situation is this is our first feature. We've found a way to get funds in a very unusual way, something we've never seen before. We've already had a little funding already from this...

So... we have a weird situation. We're pitching for production money and doing OK. We're the only people our funding source is talking to about a short, feature and series so if they pull the trigger, it's us or nothing. Specifically, we're raising money for a short to demonstrate we can do...

    So....are people making films....??

I completed a corporate shoot a month ago. Today, had a pitch to raise money for a short, feature and series (which is looking like a good, possibility). So I'm back. May do a short for the hell of it in a few weeks just because I can.

Film Entrepreneur New to Forum Looking to Do Big Things

Good luck! What I don't understand is your theoretical description of a model doesn't seem to fit the practical reality of how we're raising finance. I could be completely wrong, though, because you haven't laid it out so I'm unsure because what I'm getting is just reading between the lines...

    misc Are you brand loyal?

To a degree, yes. Since becoming a professional, corporate film maker, I prefer Canons. Happy to use Sony and have shot with FS7s etc... and I like the FS7. Sennheiser was a 'must have' around corporate customers and Sound Devices for mixers. I buy Zooms as well and have a couple but it's a...

cinematography My new visual reel, please take a look and tell me what you think :)

I loved it and and I see a lot of reels (I occasionally hire camera ops). You have a beautiful eye. Better than mine. Only thing I'd suggest looking at is some of the footage was from the same thing meaning I get the impression you may have only shot a few things. There's also a lack of...

music A bit Heath Robinson as sound recording setups go...

With film making, there are always a ton of challenges. It's about finding a path through and based on the info we have, we have that path.

music A bit Heath Robinson as sound recording setups go...

We can probably cover the number of inputs without needing a splitter. I think. We have a couple of recorders so that sort of works. Fills me with confidence that it's probably OK. And the benefit is that it isn't a gig so we can get multiple takes.

music A bit Heath Robinson as sound recording setups go...

So as a professional, corporate film maker, I have a good sound setup. Well, good for corporates! The setup is also good enough to shoot a very frugal feature film (currently in production). And thanks to a certain MLesemann for feedback. She's amazing! However, I have a crazy situation...

sound Room Echo - Post Production Nightmare?

The last time we had a shoot with these issues, we handled it in the CUs and recorded the dialogue immediately after the actors had done their bit. We popped up some polystyrene boards (there were only four I think), put the mic in real close and while we had a teensy bit of echo, the client...

    Bonjour

Glad you like the look of it. Most of the scenes are like that and just stitching it all together and filming the rest. I have no idea what I'm doing! Wish I did! What I did was to come up with a plan but like Tyson always said: "No plan survives being punched in the face!" If you're...

Non-disclosure? It's an attempt at a first feature! It'll probably be terrible. Here's a scene so you can judge for yourself. It's not quite the finished article and the girl's supposed to be dead and just a figment of his imagination. Pass: Hastings The thing about a feature is I'm...
