movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Kill List- Really still can't decide what to make of this film. It was a really good thriller, and there were plenty of interesting things I was waiting to be answered, and then the ending was just... I don't even know. I really thought it was building up to an amazing ending, maybe a huge twist...

Can I use printed pictures from the internet in my film?

I think the source is pretty important. Do you know where each individual clip is from? Truth be told, It seems unlikely that anyone would ever bring up any sort of legal action about something like that, but I would always look to be as safe as possible

    Sundance? REALLY?

    Ba-zingggg!

How's this for a blog name?

Yeah, I had the idea about a rubicks cube with Kubrick images, although I was worried about potential copyright stuff (maybe I'm just being dramatic) Or I might just use general film images like a camera or directors seat, clapper board etc. Hopefully I'll be able to start it next week...

How's this for a blog name?

Ha, yeah I think it is a word. I just remember it being on The Simpsons to be honest- people don't really say it here in the UK :D

    Anyone else seen Buried?

I did really enjoy it, thought Ryan Reynolds was excellent, and the pacing was really impressive. I'd agree it probably wouldn't be in my top 10 of all time; it probably makes my top 10 of 2010.

    We lucked out!

That's amazing, bet you had a great day! I'd echo Alcove and Lucky Hardwood- always helps to have connections, especially the ones that are giving you a lift to Sundance in their private jets

    archived-videos Feedback on ad requested

Maybe its just me but I felt a little voiceover work might have helped. Although there is always a danger of getting a cheesy infomercial style when using that, so maybe it is better without :/ so possible very unhelpful advice! Other than that, it impressed me a lot, really slick, some great...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Saw Good Will Hunting for the first time the other day. My kind of film- heavy character development, internal conflict, and classic Damon and Affleck Boston accents  9/10

How's this for a blog name?

Well, I'm looking to start a blog soon on filmmaking, and I've been mulling over a few titles. What does everybody thing of the name... I feel like I need a drumroll :D Kubrick's Rube Had my concerns, mostly because it doesn't really convey the site, it's just a fairly memorable title. But...

How do you feel about American remakes of foreign films?

Maybe a slightly moot point, but I thought the Magnificent Seven borrowed very heavily from Seven Samurai, as opposed to being a straight remake, much like A Fistful of Dollars. Although a look on wikipedia does show he has had a few remakes. I think the main point I would have to agree on is...

How do you feel about American remakes of foreign films?

I was thinking this exact same thing last night when I saw that Cell 211 is getting an American remake. The first thing that sprang to mind was 'unnecessary', as the only films that they want to remake are, naturally, very successful foreign films. Therefore, the argument is why do they need to...

    Why do you love filmmaking

Exactly why I didn't choose tax law as one of the modules in my final year of law ;) Personally, I've always loved film and from a young age watching them I knew I wanted to tell stories like that. I wrote a lot of stories as a kid (won a few awards, I'm kind of a big deal on the primary school...

cinematography "First Person Shooter" as a video style?

Why not try a snorricam on your actors back to make a look more akin to a third person shooter? I think it could work better than first person; I would agree there is a gimmicky nature to that technique, but more importantly I just don't think it lends itself especially well to film. The third...

    archived-videos Beautiful Sketches

Some amazing shots there! I enjoyed it a lot, although I wasn't a huge fan of the song- although I suppose thats more objective. But, I found it really, really well shot, especially for a first short :)

My feature film got greenlit for $5 million by an investment firm. What do I do now?

Congratulations! Is this just a firm you contacted regarding a potential investment? Must have put together a hell of a presentation :) I would reiterate what people have said about beginning pre-production. I'd start looking into key crew members, if you're inexperienced an experienced DP...

    Wordpress Website

Looks very smart, although it is a little bare... Should have a lot of fun filling it up though :) One thought I have is that if you are planning on making it almost more like a portfolio of your work, there are some nice themes out there that will present it more in that fashion. Honestly, I...
