Hey i just tried this last week, except i had a smaller camera. Do you have to shoot with the xl2? I think the others have the right idea about making your own or taking the back out.

Yea. I've got a decent 1ccd camera but the auto focus has been playing up (it doesn't have manual :(), alot of noise in the picture in low-light shots etc. so the gs400 will do me well. Once again, thanks for your help.

The kidnap version looks great. I love the idea too. The only thing i dont like are the blue mats in the first two frames. I think they clash with the yellow nokia man. Apart from that its great!

Does colour correction matter all that much when transfering since you would be doing it yourself during editing? Interesting about the cheaper places possibly using outdated film chains etc, I never really thought about that.

Is the Paillard any good?

I dont know what its like in usa but today i rang around for pricing on converting 400' of 16mm film to minidv. The first place i called charged $220aus (approx $170usd) and the next place i called charged $50 (minimum charge because 400' is under 30 mins). Im sure you guys know where to go...

Wouldn't it be a bad idea to get a reputation as someone who pays off potential lawsuits? Sure, if they are making the same claim then they cannot sue you after someone else has but as long as you work in a lawful area such as film, there will always be potential lawsuits.

Thanks again Scott, your comments helped me alot. I have been discussing this camera with my dad and if it doesnt go for more then about $700usd, then he might get it for my 21st. Does that seem a reasonable price considering it doesnt have any lenses, film mag, camera handle, manual or case...

im looking at buying a bolex h16 rx5 camera for my first film camera but i dont know what i will be getting myself into. Im happy to pay for film and converting etc. but i want a full opporating camera without having to hunt down rare pieces or pay $$$$. The one im looking at doesnt come with...

how many minutes would you get on 400' ? Is 400 foot the standard amount of film to buy?
