    cinematography Multi-Camera Slating

We used one slate with all info on it, so for example the camera line was divided into "A" "B" and "C." Then we clapped it up to three times (or once or twice if two or three cameras happened to all be able to see it, rarely). The worst part about multi-camera shoots, and why I now argue...

David Yates to direct Doctor Who

    Fantastically well put.

David Yates to direct Doctor Who

I do agree with this. Tennant never really evolved; he was as deep in his first episode as his last. I love Smith; there is something there that I can't put my finger on that I love. His youth, perhaps, compared to the other doctors?

David Yates to direct Doctor Who

Tennant's my Doctor! To each his own. I'm pretty excited. Tom Baker was my original Doctor, and now I find it incredible that the only show my whole family makes time for is Doctor Who...kids five and eight, and wife and myself. My son and I tried to watch the original movies, and they were...

It went great! We weren't showing for competition, but were definitely the best film in our block...lot of great crowd response and reaction to our twist, which is what I live for. And they had decorated the lobby with walk of fame style stars with the filmmakers' names on them...awesome touch.

    editing Elaborate credit graphics

Just got back from a glorious day at the East Lansing Film Festival and saw many fine, fine films. But one aspect of nearly all of them is still sticking in my craw and I have to share it here: Elaborate, gorgeous, fancy, tutorial-learned After Effects credit sequences tacked onto films that...

Mr. Henderson at the East Lansing Film Festival

Proud to be a part of this one. One of the oldest and most respected film festivals in the region. Late notice, but if you're around Mid-Michigan this morning, come out to MSU and catch us on the big screen and ask me questions about world hunger and aviation at the panel discussion afterwards...

Writers...What is your ideal writing setting?

When typing, ie hammering out a script that's in my head or outlined: headphones on low (Miles and Coltrane ballads usually for writing) and one (or two tops) glass(es) of bourbon to lube things up. When writing, ie brainstorming/journaling/outlining/sketching with pencil and paper, I like busy...
