Doing a shot Friday morning of the beach (facing the east into the sun). Will probably be around 9-10, right into the sun. Use Polarizing filter?

I think I should be asking: which should I use to reduce light coming through the windows in my real-estate shooting?

I recently purchased 3 filters for my Canon Xl2. UV, ND, and Polarizing filters. What is the difference between ND and Polarizing?

    editing A cropping problem????

I see what you're saying, but it is still not working. F*cking driving me crazy. It still does not look like the other example. it still has black and the picture moves to the bottom right a lot. I've never had this happen before and I don't know how it went into this format. When I view the...

    editing A cropping problem????

Do you mean right-click>settings??? If so, I do not see the option for NTSC HDV. I do see several options, however. Also, should I be looking under 'frame size' or 'pixel aspect ratio'?

    editing A cropping problem????

I'm having trouble with the size (width) of the video in FCP... I don't know how it got like this but I'm trying to get it back to 16:9 (the top right of the screenshot). Screenshot 1 Screenshot 2 I'm trying to get the first screenshot like the second...

    cinematography wide angle lenses

All that I know about a wide angle lense is that it is used in small areas such as bedrooms. What is the primary use for these lenses? What types of situations? When would I see them in movies?

    Changing canvas size in FCP

It changes the zoom, but doesn't change the width of the actual video. It's still not 16:9...

    Changing canvas size in FCP

For some reason, my canvas (to the top right) is not displaying 16:9 like my other files. There are black frames on the top and bottom of the video and the width is shortened. Does anyone know how I can widen it to 16:9?

Considered that already. Don't exactly have the time to light each room how I want on the job.

    editing Windows and overexposure

I just finished shooting 2 condos on the beach and I'm currently in the middle of uploading all of the footage. I took notice while shooting and I definitely notice it now, the windows and sliding doors are all extremely bright from the sun. While shooting, I couldn't close the iris any more...

Wish my house did too... The levels were a little off. I'm sure it was caused by switching between M and A several times. I feel comfortable for my next job now that I've practiced at home with manual mode. I also noticed that if the camera is not white balanced it's a complete waste of a shot...

editing Real estate project in post production

I fooled around with the settings yesterday. Automatic mode (not fully automatic but automatic), when white balanced produced a pretty good picture. I definitely like shooting in fully manual for indifilms, though because I like to have complete image control like you said. Especially when...

Thanks for the feedback, Will. I shoot again on Monday so I'm going to do some practice runs on my own house today, adjusting settings and voicing them into the mic so I can tell what I was doing in post (should have done that the first time). I'm going to carry a cloth with me next time as...
