Upgrading to HD from Canon XL2...

I've been using the Canon XL2 for about 2 years now. It's been a very good camera and I want to hang on to it but I'm looking to get an HD camera. After some research I'm looking at the Panasonic Pro AG-HVX200A. I do a lot of outdoor/fishing videos, as well as independent movies. Has anyone had...

I see plug-ins and filters for After Effects everywhere (impressive ones too), however I rarely ever see decent ones for FCP? Is there a place to buy filters and plug-ins for FCP???

Very nice DOF. I guess that comes with practice?? I'm sure they are using at least one custom preset... What do you think about filters? Any use of filters? They must be editing the color in post. Looks so good...

cinematography Obtaining an outdoor look as good as this.

This site's videos blow me away. I would like to obtain the same look in my outdoor/fishing videos. I've noticed they use quick shots, and a lot of movement, but the look is very good. Obviously they're shooting in HD, but are any filters or effects used that anyone can notice? To obtain a look...

    editing How was this done?

It looks like some type of gradient with a yellow tint? Something looks different with this clip but I can't pinpoint it. Anyone have any thoughts on this videos look? Link

Separate circuits seems like the solution....

    Using lights, voltage, outlets, etc.

I'll be using my lights for about a week straight and I'm concerned about plugging them directly into a household/commercial outlet. The first time I used one of my lights the bulb exploded and I was told it might have been the outlet that caused it? If this is the problem, is it a surge...

sound Recording sound from far away shot

How is the sound recorded when the camera is far from the subject? I guess an example would be in Reservoir Dogs when the subjects talking are in the middle of a big room... where is the sound recorded from? Lavalieres?

    Upgrading to HD camera...

I've been using a Canon XL2 for about 2 years now and it's worked very well for me. I do not want to get rid of my XL2, however I'm looking into purchasing a high definition camera. I currently professionally produce fishing videos and am a student filmmaker so I will be making a lot of...

    editing Compressing HD to SD

Working with an HD project still. Ready to export using Compressor from FCP. I'm going to compress with my usual settings for Youtube. Will it be compressed in SD or a massive HD file? Anyone do this often or have any idea how to export it SD? Thanks.

editing Sony Handycam HDD to Mac

I right clicked on the clips and selected "view in finder", then from this folder I imported the .mov files into FCP. I guess this is a solution, however I'm hoping it does not affect the equality.

editing Sony Handycam HDD to Mac

I borrowed my buddy's Sony Handycam HDD yesterday to try it out. I ran into some problems importing the video to my computer. My FCP could not locate the camera so I ended up importing it to iMovie, which recognized it. Now that I have the video uploaded to iMovie, can I transfer it to FCP?

Strange, because it looks horrible, out of the blue, on my computer. I went to my buddy's last night and it looked sharp.
