    Business Startup

You have plenty of gear, get out there and start shooting stuff! I shoot stuff for people all the time on DSLR. I know other guys that use a traditional camcorder. 99% of the time the client won't care as long as you make it look good and deliver in a professional, timely matter. You can do...

    No more begging...

But yes, crowdfunding is work in and of itself. Unless you have a huge network of people with extra money and are a terrific salesman, your time is probably better spent raising the money elsewhere. Especially on a relatively small amount (relative to filmmaking in general). If you can shoot a...

    No more begging...

Probably not what you're wanting to hear, but how is the crew not soliciting funds relevant to their competency? It's not a camera op's job to raise money, it's the producer's. You have plenty of people willing to show up (it appears) for free and work on YOUR film but you're upset that they...

lighting Is this light any good?

I actually did just pick up some lights for a friend, found a used lowell kit with 3 fixtures, stands, umbrellas, gel frames, diffusers, cables and a case for $320 buy it now on eBay. Figure in an extra $30 for a handful of spare bulbs and it's a legit starter kit for a price thats hard to beat!

    Maximum SDHC write speed?

Like Jax pointed out, under normal operation there's a point where a card won't feel any faster. If you do plan to use higher bitrates or RAW (if it makes it to the t3i) then you'll want as fast as possible!

How do I convert an mpa file to an ADTS?

Haha, feels like I do owe some help... A good question is where did you get MPA audio and why on earth are you converting to ADTS? It doesn't look like google has any quick answers which is why I'm guessing you posted here, but neither are really standard edit or delivery formats.

New Business Model for Film Financing

I'm not saying HBO or Showtime is a bad route to go. I think it's a great route. Of course DVDs and other distribution are much easier if you get picked up by a cable network. I am saying it's just as unlikely a route as any major distribution for an indie film. Yes, they pick up indie...

New Business Model for Film Financing

Morris has some solid advice. Personally, there's no way I'd invest in something if "picked up as a cable network's b-movie" was the only hope and plan for distribution and a return on profit unless there was a signed agreement with the network that it had that distribution in a profitable...

    Adobe no longer selling software!

Technically the idea, like a lot of software, is it's licensed for one user's desktop and your laptop. One user, two computers. There won't be any spot checks or people knocking on your door if you accidentally license it on a computer used by someone else.

    Adobe no longer selling software!

Correct, it's all the "normal" software with the addition of cloud storage if you want to use it.

How do I convert an mpa file to an ADTS?

I prefer a more personal approach. Remove and focus on a positive or negative afterlife from the equation and focus on how much this life matters by just loving them. If there's genuine joy in your life from ADTS it'll spread into theirs on their own time. No MPA hate, ADTS cares for them too.

Canon 5D mark III now records RAW!

I still wouldn't call it "available" - it looks like it's right around the corner but it's because of newer technology that's available. The reason RAW is hard is because it's processor intensive and needs ton of bandwidth. Even with the fastest cards put there, they're only able to record...

Is B&H Photo & Video reputable?

Yup! Adorama is also a big, reputable dealer. Not sure if they're any better shipping international.

AVID Media Composer 6.5 for RED & HD

Avid is great, sure. Most of the big post houses are Avid. I still like Adobe better :) It's much faster and was the first NLE to natively handle RED footage.

How come I can't double my shutter at 6fps?

That looks way better/more realistic stabilized than it does without. They blur is from in-camera motion blur. You got rid of the motion (shake) but the blur is still there. If you're going to be on an empty road when you shoot for real anyway, why not just drive fast? How fast are you...

    Budget/Beginner Sound Rig

I agree, not just so you can point out what's wrong but so you can effectively communicate. I whole haeartedly believe that the best leaders understand enough about the positions they are leading (ex: a producer or director leading a makeup artist, sound mixer and DP) that they know how to...
