Making a movie about people talking of the interstellar war.

OK I missed the point - can you please elaborate, thanks.

Making a movie about people talking of the interstellar war.

@indietalk, my mentor knows what I've built, so the end point will be several years from now. I will be meeting him again to see when that end point will be - it will not be soon for the reasons I've mentioned. @AcousticAl, yes, I understand that star salaries can be a large part of the...

Making a movie about people talking of the interstellar war.

@mlesemann, thanks for your encouragement. Same for everyone. To elaborate, the staff, students, and lawyers in my firm need my guidance, and everyone knows that I'm holding it together. We are occupying a sweet spot that others cannot occupy, and we're occupying more of those sweet spots in...

Making a movie about people talking of the interstellar war.

Mara, Agreed. But I'm not the most efficient worker, so that's more of an issue for me. That said, Arnold said it best - when he was distracted during his body building days, his weights seemed heavier and harder to lift, so he decided to focus on his goal. I read biographies, and I know the...

Making a movie about people talking of the interstellar war.

We've been in this loop for about two years, and many wars have been finished in less time, so that makese sense. But people are still talking about those wars, so there's nothing to stop us from ...... you know. In that regard ...... @directorik, we met about 15 years ago, and I can still...

Making a movie about people talking of the interstellar war.

When we met, we talked about making a movie; now we're talking about talking ....... you know. So there's progress.

When I started out, that meant being the next George Lucas, with Lucasfilm. Now that I'm older and have a fairly large law firm, I'm not so enamoured with an empire, and I'm not sure I want a Lucasfilm, with all its divisions. That said, I haven't shot a single frame of film, and I may never do...

Making a movie about people talking of the interstellar war.

That's interesting to me. I'm not interested in just being another producer, given my achievements in law, so it's going to be all or nothing - either I become a mogul or I crash. And, at this stage of my life, it wouldn't matter if I do crash, because I've got everything else that I've wanted...

Making a movie about people talking of the interstellar war.

Rik, OK, my bad. Of course, movies can be made for any price. I just met my mentor in law, who is, again, pushing me to follow my dream, and he knows of our recent conversations. By the way, I understand "Rear Window" was so expensive because they built virtually a block on stage. I think we...

Making a movie about people talking of the interstellar war.

Haven't we been in a loop for the past few years, talking about talking?

Mara, I got that from @directorik. I did some digging, and I found that "Rear Window" cost $1 million in 1954 dollars, while "Same Time Next Year" also cost over a million (I can't find the link for the latter movie). Rik, would you care to chime in?

Making a movie about people talking of the interstellar war.

Hello everyone, I was just told that "Rear Window" cannot be done professionally for $100,00.00, and such movies would cost $2 million. My contact then told me that post-production alone can cost $100,000.00 Why the discrepancy?

Making a movie about people talking of the interstellar war.

@directorik, thanks. I'm thinking of making feature films. Of course, if it's non-union, then I can add some extras like voice overs, combatants calling out as they engage in battle. And, as a hard-core conservative, I'm anti-union anyway. I will send my memo to my mentor, then we'll ...

Making a movie about people talking of the interstellar war.

Rik, thanks for the information. These numbers are within what I can (eventually) do, and I will talk to my mentor about a plan. @indietalk, I also like the idea of two prisoners talking about the war, and I may be able to spend a bit more money to create a jail cell with the spaceship engine...

Making a movie about people talking of the interstellar war.

I'm bumping this thread, because I need some cost estimates. To cut a long story short, my mentor, also a lawyer, is pressuring me to move on with my life, because I have been going to the AFM and so on but not doing anything - if only he knew how I've been posting here. Anyway, I'm writing him...

sales-options UK screenwriting selling to the US and Canada. Logistics?

@The Lone Banana, I'm also a Canadian, and I agree - a Director of the Stargate series said that we're like a factory, doing the work, but the deals are made in Hollywood.

movies Babylon 5 reboot in the works.

Reboot is still dead in the water, and, since JMS is offering the franchise to buyers, the storyline may be dead. But most people, especially with that kind of money, would rather start their own franchise than do a reboot of a franchise that hasn't done much. That said, he did get an animated...

industry Lucasfilm is shutting down ILM and video operations in Singapore and elsewhere.

There're rumours on the internet about George Lucas buying back Lucasfilm, but he hasn't confirmed he will do that, though he did apparently say he didn't like how his franchises were being done.
