    directors David Lynch - Jan 20, 1946 - Jan 16, 2025

I first saw "Eraserhead" at a midnight screening in January 1978. "Blue Velvet" is one of my favorite films of all time. I worked three days on "Wild at Heart" "Dune" is a terrible movie that I really, truly love.

budget How much to do these?

I think my screen name tells the story. It isn't directorofphotographyrik. Your mentor suggests you make a proof of concept to show at AFM. What is the concept you would prove you can accomplish?

budget How much to do these?

Aspiring Mogul playing the victim. This is not supported by facts. This is you playing the victim to excuse your lack of forward motion on making a movie. I suspect you didn't even read my post about it. The forum regulars have been very supportive of you and your proposals. I am the only one...

No, you're not. We are all contributing to your 15 year long loop. Because you are not a film maker you misunderstand much of what you're told. I know, because you misunderstand most of what I tell you. Then you talk to others and misunderstand them because you are asking (and getting) advice...

budget How much to do these?

What I learned by NOT going to film school: Write a 5 to 7 page script and make the movie. I understand what you're trying to do better than most here. And I can see value in this. This isn't what an aspiring producer or director would do - but in YOUR situation it makes some sense. Filming a...

budget How much to do these?

I think filming a table read and rehearsal is a total waste of time. I'm happy that you have a mentor who agrees with your choices. I hope you can actually do this someday.

favorite Favorite TV to Movie, Movie to TV Adaptations?

I've done TV to Movie. Now Movie to TV M*A*S*H would be my favorite. I didn't see it in its original release - first watched it during the lock-down of 2020. I enjoyed Ash vs The Evil Dead and tolerated The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Fargo is great but I's hardly an adaptation of the movie. So...

Like what is the shoot date. Now it looks like Mogul might be in Los Angeles in November. So my suggestion is for him to shoot local. Get it done by mid-February.

Thanks, folks. I'm far enough away from the flames. The smoke, however, is blowing over my place. The smoke was so strong last night that I thought there was a fire very close. This morning I can hardly see the sun, it's so think.

favorite Favorite TV to Movie, Movie to TV Adaptations?

Exactly. "Brian" was not an adaptation of a TV series. So I don't think it counts.

favorite Favorite TV to Movie, Movie to TV Adaptations?

There are quite a few good TV to movie adaptations: If “Life Of Brian” counts – that's my favorite. If “The Muppet Movie” counts – that's a close second. And I like “Pennies From Heaven” a lot. Does “Fire Walk With Me” count? I have a soft spot for“Charlie's Angeles”. I never watched the TV...

campaign I Need A Better Knife

Sounds like you have a fair budget. If you reach the goal everyone will get paid. If you can't reach that you will be able to cut some of the pay and still make the movie. On my first short films we didn't pay anyone. Food, equipment rental, film, (we shot on 16mm), location rental and special...

campaign I Need A Better Knife

I really like the personal "filmmakers story" Jordan uses in the campaign video. I don't need to see videos of actors I've never heard of - won't inspire me to donate. But (as @mlesemann said) it might inspire the actors friends to donate - so it can't hurt. Expanding your contacts and reaching...

campaign I Need A Better Knife

I looked at the page and have some thoughts. Since Jordan successfully crowd funded a previous project I think it would be helpful if you included a link to that finished film. The current project might be something that will be of interest to people beyond your current circle - so show us...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Chris, that was my take on Homestead. It got too preachy in the last act. Otherwise a good movie. I'm big a fan of McDonough - one of those great character actors who elevates any project he's in.
