I am that... I ride no matter what the weather. my current ride is a Buell XB-12R Firebolt. And? It is pretty damn cold where I'm at too. Kills my arthritis but I'm ADDICTED.

I had an FJ600 back in the 80's, and riding that was the most fun you can have with your clothes on... especially through the Southern California canyons. But I had 2 riders die in my arms, and that kinda took the spark out of riding. And I promised someone very near and dear to me that I wouldn't ride again. She's no longer part of my life, and I miss riding... but I gave my word that I'd quit and... well.

I used to race professionally a very long time ago so the need for speed has never left me... I'm kinda lucky where I currently live in New Mexico. The Gila Mountains has a highway that runs through it and it's known to be a killer ride and I say that literally... Meaning that if you make a mistake? You'll be launching yourself OFF into a canyon and nobody's ever gonna find you.

Not that they'd even look... Nobody likes to go down into those canyons... LOL.

We call it, RIDING THE GILA... You have to really know what you're doing when RIDING THE GILA. You'll see everything from a herd of Elk crossing the highway to mountain lions chasing deer. I've seen wolves, antelope, bears...

You name it. The highway doesn't get a lot of traffic so the wild animals use it all the time as if it were their own.

In the summer? Factory riders come in from ALL OVER THE WORLD to RIDE THE GILA... LOL. You can see their trucks parked in an empty turnaround...

Usually because they don't know where else to park and when they ask the one or two mom and pop stores along the way anything about riding the Gila, they can't get a straight answer.

It's one of the best kept secrets of riding out there. If you're a sportbike enthusiast? You have to ride it at least ONCE.
