    Interstellar - Official Trailer

Saw Interstellar yesterday - have to say I found it very disappointing. Was really looking forward to it and yet I felt it was just flat across all the boards. The characters were all frustratingly cliched. The big action sequence towards the end it just felt to me that they'd lost grip of...

This is the MOST important aspect of filmmaking.

Anyone who tells me that ONE thing is the key to film making instantly goes on my idiot list. They always have an agenda (usually related directly to that ONE thing) and that's why they cannot be trusted. That's not to say you shouldn't have respect for people and their craft & Skills. There...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Animal Kingdom - Aussie Crime drama from a few years back. I like a good cryptic ending but this one just sort of limps across the finish line, some nice dark touches early on though and terrific acting across the cast. 7/10

haha! A spot on review that. To The Wonder - a cinematographers wet dream, emotionally struck a chord but couldn't really say with any confidence what went on at all. My love/hate relationship with Malick continues. 8/10

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

The Consequences of Love - Super tense atmospheric euro thriller.. well there's alot more brooding than thrilling, but you get a good cinematographer in cool hotel along with a great actor smoking his guts out and yr pretty much halfway to art house havana!!! 7/10

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Play It Again Sam is an absolutely fantasic early Woody Allen film... has moments of farce like a lot of his early films but also a strong nod to the sort of thing that he develops in his mid-career classics like Annie Hall & Manhattan. Picnic At Hanging Rock - A strange little film about a...

    VFX Fake Windows

I've done this. Take plenty reference pictures ... similar landscapes through windows to match colour dropoff/tone etc... And take lots of reverse pics of the scene to use as window reflections... and dirt/smears etc... If you can get a window to look right, then the landscape is easy... :)

Ha great minds!! Ain't Them Bodies Saints -Strangely gripping if a little trapped between it's Malick esq meanderings and it's small-town-big-plot plot. Rooney Mara was excellent. 8/10

Is it worth helping to make a feature if it's intended for youtube only?

Looking at those videos I'd suggest you don't actually know what you're trying to test. Brilliant thread though!! From "Youtube Features" to "is this in Focus" in only 4 pages :)

Does a flashback have to be from a character's point of view or no?

I don't understand how a story can have a point of view!! Flashbacks from different character perspectives... iirc Vantage Point does that a lot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDp-08uNH0Y EDIT:In fact scratch that... I don't think it's Flashbacks its a fractured narrative. Doesn't a...
