    FCP Cross Dissolve

This is a really stupid problem but it has been really pissing me off lately. In FCP 6 I have a clip and I split it and I try to apply a cross dissolve between the two. The transition appears in the timeline and I can edit it and everything. The only problem is when I hit play, no cross...

Thanks. Another question i had was why are boom poles so expensive? Would i loose quality by using a homemade one?

Thanks a lot for the advice! Another question i had was what cords will i need to buy in addition to what comes with the mic if i'm planning on using a boom? (male or female, etc.)

    What do I need??

I'm looking into buying a shotgun mic for my couple of camcorders in desperate hopes of improving sound quality. I have had my eyes on this one: http://www.amazon.com/Gradient-Compact-Shotgun-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B0002TTN3Y Is this a good choice for the price? Will it improve my sound...

    Transition Issues

In FCP I'm making a little documentary thing. When using a cross fade, the clip being faded to or others in the frame tend to change in quality or something. Is this just a computer issue or will it still exist on DVD? And if so how can I fix this? Thanks

    DROPPED FRAMES!

Yeah, the project itself is pretty big as i have like 16GB of footage, so I've been saving everything to an iomega 320GB external hard drive. And I even went through and deleted every other frame of the five second piece (took forever) and that didn't work either. I think I'll probably do what...

    DROPPED FRAMES!

I'm working on a sort of promotional video for the local library in FCP 6. I've got a couple of time lapse clips I recorded using Interval Recording on my camera. So I've imported the clips alright and they play alright in normal speed, but when I bring their speeds up to around 2,000 -...

    Mic?

I make short films with my friends for school and film festivals and stuff. We have used the onboard mics on our little camcorders so far and are looking into getting a shotgun mic to improve sound quality. A main reason for this is that I built a track dolly which runs smoothly, but the...

Help with DVD Studio Pro 4

Well I did change the zoom on the TV to make it not cut anything off. There were even the empty black spaces on the sides of the picture like on the computer, but it was still cut off. I, therefore assume that it must be something internal. Is there a way to change the zoom or something in...

Help with DVD Studio Pro 4

I've just finished a short movie in FCP in 4:3 aspect ratio and have made a DVD SP 4 project for it/ It burned fine and I watched the DVD on my computer to make sure it worked and everything was fine. When I put it in my TV, however, the left and right edges are cut off by an inch or two. I...

    Dialogue help

Yeah i've got a friend who is interested in giving the music thing a try. VladCant, I was wondering if you have any of your work online that I could take a look at, because you've been so helpful it would be cool to see what you have done.

    Dialogue help

This is somewhat of a random question that you might not know anything about, but I was wondering how important orignal music is. The films we're making are for student film festivals and stuff. Is it a lot better to have original music or is it okay to use other songs/soundtracks from other...

    Dialogue help

Thanks a lot guys. (And don't worry about the unorganized post). I've got a shoot coming up that is a pretty important scene in which the main character (who is suffering from some sort of memory loss following the traumatic death of his friend - sounds a little cliche but it works) comes back...

    Dialogue help

Thanks a lot for taking the time VladCant. One thing that my friends and I have been arguing a little about is how "real life" a script ought to be. For example, if someone alks into a room to ask another character about something should he say hello in some way or should he get straight to...
