You could have the actor wired from behind and give him a timely yank when he's supposed to be hit. Try not to yank too hard, lest you hurt the poor guy. A strap around the chest under the clothes, a wire out the back. A mat on the floor to land on, etc.

I had a couple problems when I read the script, before the thing had even filmed. Yeah, the ending is sort of anti-climactic. The Russian gangsters are sort of stock.
My big problem is that the smartest guy in the world does really, really stupid things. Like not paying off...

If you have a great story (big IF -- I haven't read it) then it could work as a young fantasy novel. Then you would have an "existing property."

I did see a student film that recreated the rooftop shootout scene from Die Hard. That was pretty good, probably online.
For a 24 hour project -- it's very good. That said, I have no idea what the allure is of making films on such short deadlines. In the final viewing, no one cares how fast you did it, only if it's good.
The cinematography was a bit dark on the interiors. I would recommend more fill light in...
