I have also heard the pre-amps in the juiced link are better. I know people who have been swtiching from beachtek to juicedlink lately. Just something to think about.

My old Macbook had issues with certain HD footage that was recorded at a high mbs. I don't have any problem editing AVCHD footage on my new one and it is a Mac laptop as well. 4GB RAM and at least 2.0-2.3 Ghz processor should do.

To update on my search. I lost a bid on a Fostex FR2, but got a good deal on a Tascam HD P2 field recorder for the same price as I would have spent on a Marantz 661.

Ok, cool. I had noticed the 660 only did 16 bit. A little more for 24but/96khz is worth it. In your opinion, how does the Fostex Fr-LE2 compare?

I am looking at finally ditching my Zoom H4 recorder and purchasing a real field recorder. Right now, what is at the top of my list is a small Marantz PMD-660K kit. For anyone who has used this recorder, what are your impressions on the quality and experiences with capturing sound?
