How about when you film the dialogue scenes, you just switch roles with here so she takes care of audio, and you can take care of camera work?

You can buy f2.8 lenses that are relatively around $200-800 and look good. For know though, I would steer clear of the f1.4's.

To answer your question: Yes, f1.4 lenses are generally used for portrait shots where the camera is fixed in one position. It is basically unusable for anything else.

Sounds like you're export settings are messed up, or just not in the right format for the type of video you're working with.
