MAC vs PC for Indie Filmmaking (Dec 2012)

I think the rule generally comes down to: "get the absolute best hardware you can realistically afford". Cheaper in the short-term does not translate to cheaper in the long-term.

Something wrong with my Camera, can some one help.

Sounds like optical image stabilization. Look for that setting.

    Beginner camera/computer/ect question

I'm going to hazard a guess that the hack for the GH2 enables 1080p 24fps. Can anyone verify this?

    Beginner camera/computer/ect question

And us 5D MkIII users should be getting a firmware upgrade in April that gives us uncompressed HDMI output, so there's that.

    Beginner camera/computer/ect question

Nikon has some definite advantages: True HDMI out. Handy if you've got an external recorder and don't want to deal with h264 footage. Better prosumer lenses. Expensive lenses for both Nikon and Canon are pretty much the same, but if you're going for the cheaper lenses, the Nikkors tend to be a...

    Beginner camera/computer/ect question

I've edited HD footage with an old dual-core G4 Mac, so your existing machine will work just fine. The only real problem I can see is hard drive space, especially if you have to transcode your footage (this depends on your editing program).

The dark doesn't look quite right. I would start over by asking yourself what environment he's supposed to be in? Where's the light in the environment coming from? What kind of light source is it? Once you have that in mind, color grade towards that look instead of just dimming the shot as a whole.

Best way to go about sound with Canon 5D MkIII?

You'll want the covers-around-the-ear closed headphones (as opposed to on-the-ear or open-back). Maybe the Shur 840's or thereabouts?

    Lightwave 11.5 is out

They finally added instancing and also upgraded their formerly-primitive rigging system to something that looks very, very happy. Also, if you can afford it, I highly recommend getting the LWCAD add-on, especially if you're going to be doing buildings of any kind. (It also comes with some...

Best way to go about sound with Canon 5D MkIII?

Thankfully, the 5D MkIII allows you to manually set the audio levels. AGC is of the devil.

Would you read past this opening?

Maybe. It's okay right up until Tess shows up. I'd have to see how that plays out, but it's not horrible. I've read worse. Far, far worse. You might want to not CAPITALIZE so many words when something HAPPENS as it's very distracting to read. The good: It's very visual. I was able to...

Best way to go about sound with Canon 5D MkIII?

You might want to get an adapter/mic combination for balanced XLR -> Canon MkIII audio input jack. I've never done this myself, but it'll let you use a good mic w/out having to sync in post.
