Self distribution??? Distribber??

Hello everybody, new to this forum. My name is Ed Gutierrez a co-founder of Fat Foot Films.
We were looking into a different path we have never traveled, being self distribution. Has anyone done work with Distribber?? If so what platforms have you used and what do you think of it. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Awesome. Both of which we are looking into. After your initial submission payment and itunes accepting film. Besides $150 a year per film (correct me if I'm wrong), what other fees are there?

How much does it cost to submit and get accepted to iTunes anyway? I heard it was like over a thousand dollars.

By the way you don't need ANY distributor to get on Amazon (advantage program), including on Amazon Instant Video (via CreateSpace).

Hi Ed,

You may find SHORTies by VIVE Lifestyle Network to be of interest. SHORTies, the first-of-its-kind short film & indie film channel, is a streaming 'connected device' TV channel available on a multitude of platforms including cable boxes, OTT's, game boxes, smart TV's and mobiles/tablets.

Cheers,

The SHORTies Team

Re Amazon Create Space - it's my understanding that you can't get your movie streaming in HD (only SD) if you go that route.

Yes, that is true with Create Space as far as I know. What I would like to know is how to get your film on the actual Amazon Instant Video, where HD and SD are options. I think Distribber can only get you on Create Space, which anyone can do on their own.

Hi Blade,

CreateSpace will allow for SD only, and no option for Amazon Prime. With Distribber we have a direct deal with Amazon to upload HD content up to 4K material and also offer the content on Prime.

Hope this helps!

In addition to Distribber I have created a company called CineVolt that will allow you to sell your film to anyone anywhere. With CineVolt you just pay for bandwidth, you keep 100% of revenue. It is mainly geared towards filmmakers that have an existing fan base that they want to sell to rather than use a platform that will take a %

(Mara! Hope you are doing well, will shoot you an email shortly!)

EDIT* Just read the rest of the thread, I see others mentioned CreateSpace can only do SD as well. Sorry about that!

Also CineVolt will be set up to offer web series distribution as well.

Why so much? Is it to pay to encode it? Is it for all of the hard drive space that your movie takes up?
And how much is the annual renewal fee?
itunes also requieres a QC by their vendors. which are very limited in LA. also, there is metadata/artwork.etc. being able to work to deliver to itunes is on itself already a premium.
they might also require pseudo textless versions if you want global reach.
I am guessing you can contact them and ask why the fees. might very well be that the price includes encoding so if you have a file they can transcode then the price would be less.

Oh, very nice. On their website it made it sound like they only do SD for Amazon.

What did you have to provide as far as deliverables go for both iTunes and Amazon?

they both accept SD if HD is not availbale. Itunes is pro ress that is over 80mb/sec but amazon is 50mb/sec. mpgs.
they need metadata, closed captioning, qc (baton). trailer or preview. metadata and qc for those.
they might require pseudo textless version of the content. itunes more likley. amazon not yet.
im guessing a lot is provided by distribber so i dont know what they do, but i do know what apple and amazon asks for.

Have you tried to build a test audience before you reach out to online distributors? Even if you use Distribber to distribute to Amazon, they can't really guarantee success. If you can build a test audience and get positive feedback from them, you can be sure that your $1600 to Distribber won't be wasted.
