Budget HDSLR rig help

I am going to be making a custom rig, And I just wanted to know what and where to get for cheap 12" rods and a cheep cheese plate? I have the rest figured out.

If you want really cheap rods hit up a plumber's supply. Copper water pipes come in 15mm diametres.
If your not going to extend them you can also get plain old 15mm ali rods from metal merchants and even e-bay
