Campus Movie Fest is the one time during the year i make a film. Student film makers submit their film and if it is chosen as a 'campus finalist' it is shown in a large theaer setting on a big screen last year my film 'Doll' was a campus finalist and it was absolutely exhilarating when the final credits closed and people were applauding and yelling, like they hadn't done for the entire festival.
Well 5 Minute Meal is my sophomore (Pun intended) project that i will begin working on in about a week ( we only have 1 week to film and edit the film). It is a horror comedy about a mutant pea that incubates in the stomach of a well off bachelor's roommate. Fearing conviction of his friends unusual death Peter has no option but to comply to the pea's demand to bring him fresh bodies to eat.
2 of my biggest influences for this film was "Little Shop of Horrors" as well as "Brain Damage". I hope to include, and have taken deep pride in at least attempting to include alot of traditional effects into the film that is reminiscent of those films. The story line is by no means a deep thought provoking epiphany, but i need to remember the target audience.....college student. However this idea came up during a class i took which included a unit on the dangers of genetically modified food, so it does on some level have something to talk about.
Ive also stepped up my production value by contacting actual actors, some of whom seem very interested in the project. Thanks to this forum i have been able to find other resources and connect with some people that have been willing to help me with things like promotions and acting. As stuff is completed i will post it here and on April 12th ill post the film. Thanks!
