I am shooting a short film in the Chicago suburbs this summer and looking to rent a Police car for cheap. Does anyone know where I can find one? Thanks.

Police Car Rental - Chicago

That would be fine, but the scene is about a patrol officer and they rarely use under cover cars. Any idea where to get an actual light bar to rent.

Actually, as a resident of Chicago I can assure you that there are plenty of 'unmarked' patrol cars. 
Illegal no ...Illegal to impersonate a police officer. If the car is marked "NOT A POLICE CAR" plainly on one side and it is used strictly as a prop.. Im sure even the most uptight cops would not worry..best to call first.. heck, you might even get one from the cops..never know
Good point. You absolutely MUST discuss it with the local law enforcement so they are fully aware of what you're up to. And if you talk with them about it, you could always ask for their help - maybe from an off-duty volunteer. The worst they could do is say NO...unless they're in a bad mood. Then they might lock you up for a while.
