As a huge Star Wars fan, I latch on to every live action piece and every book. I hated that the old EU was de-canonized, but I understood why. In order to create episodes 7-9, they either had to do what they did or just adapt stories that were already out there. If I were in charge, I probably would have done the same. Lucas took far too long to make the prequels and couldn't get around to make the sequels due to fan backlash. Now we are on the cusp of finishing this saga and so far, the movies made by Disney have been hit or miss in most people's eyes. Their new EU (books, comics, cartoons, Rogue One, Solo) has been mostly favorable.

And now we come to The Mandalorian. Personally, I have found it spectacular. Episode 1 was a great start. Episode 2 was fun but a bit worrisome due to the comedy. Episode 3 brought it right back to the tone that Episode 1 started. I have loved this series. I can't wait for more.

How are the rest of you feeling about the series? Have you even jumped on the Disney+ train? Are you waiting to binge it?

Well.....I think the last batle on episode 3 would have been over in 3 seconds after all the other Mandelorians come out and help.....Also the Mandelorian is a bit stupid because he forgets that Greef has the holy metal on him. Greef is also Stupid to reveal how rich he has become...... I find it hard to relate to a protagonist that I cant see it face. In judge dread we at least saw its Chin and mouth.... I don't hate the Mandelorian....I also don't find it very engaging or exciting. I find it a very neutral viewing experience.

stupid? He AIMED for that holy metal because he didnt want to kill greef.

You can call it stupid that he didnt want to kill his old friend but i think it makes him look like more of a hero and less of a anti-hero

The writer director jon favreau is awesome and it must be so fun for him to be able to run this show

Wel...its better than the mes Rian Johnson left.... Now watching EP 4 The Shichinin no samurai rip hommage. I have the feeling it wil become better.
 
I enjoy the show. I don't see how everyone is saying it is a return to old school Star Wars. I'd say it is more in line with Rogue One style. Gritty and down to earth.

And everyone wants the baby Yoda in their life.
 
Interesting point of view @Feutus Lapdance. I feel like the body language is more than sufficient, but I have always enjoyed someone with a full mask on when the actor can showcase emotion, or lack thereof, through just their body. I feel like @sfoster explained the interaction with Greef pretty well, but I would add that Greef showing off his own payday shows his ignorance and arrogance.

@onebaldman I agree, I don't see how anyone can say it is back to Star Wars' roots. Episodes 1 & 3 were much more in line with Rogue One. Episode 2 felt unique in it's approach. Episode 4 was very weak to me and felt very choppy. It felt more like the old Ewok Adventure movies but brighter and cheerier. I loved those movies growing up (and still watch them occasionally) but I don't think they should be replicated in any way.

I think the weak point in this episode was just them training the village to defend themselves. It gave the film a "Last Samurai" vibe. It was too "motivational" and forced the Mando to reflect a little too early on. He shouldn't have taken his helmet off until the very end of the entire show. It would have more meaning and symbolism then.
 
It was a good first season. The first 3 episodes made me fearful that it would be a star wars fan service and nothing more. I liked the chemistry between Gina Carano, Pedro Pascal and Nick Nolte. I loved the part with the bored storm troopers start shooting at a space can. Looking forward to season 2.
 
I am glad you ended up enjoying it @Feutus Lapdance. If I felt a show wasn't much more than fan service after 3 episodes, I wouldn't have completed it. I enjoyed this first season so much. The only episode that really let me down was episode 4. It just never felt right and I was dreading knowing that Gina Carano's character was coming back. The middle episodes felt like filler at first but seemed to fill the little details for the last 2.

Although, who was that at the end of episode 5?

I can't wait to see what happens next season. Are we going to see more of the Mandalorians? Will we meet other force sensitive characters? Will Ahsoka show up (by the way, I am going through the Star Wars cartoons for the first time and she seems pretty cool)? Will we finally learn the "Yoda" species name?

the troopers all missing at the can was great, i liked the conversation they had too. one of the best parts of the episode.
This is what you get when someone that grew up watching star wars gets to make their own show lol
