cinematography Zone system explanation

So, each zone is 10% on my camera's spot meter. Keeping detail bits no lower than 30% and no higher than 79% will keep detail in the darks and lights that can be worked with later.

I'm assuming the negative would be equivalent to the chip + storage and the printing is the levels/curves post adjustments in digital.
